Madefromlucky; bred for distance. Pletcher and Johnny V.
Great day at the track yesterday, was at the rail for the Whitney. Moreno has been building to this type of score for over a year, great win for him. IMLD is the real deal and PM had his stinker for the year. Johnny V's comments afterward should lead PM's connections to give him a little break. The result of this race assures the Breeder's Cup Classic of plenty of speed as Moreno and Bayern, plus Game on Dude, will set a fast pace which should therefore favor the pressers in this race like PM, Shared Belief and Chrome.
As we get closer, PM and WTC are the two draws to the race and NBC is promoting it that way. PM will go down to 1-2 and WTC will go off at 2-1. The public knows Itsmyluckyday so he will go down to 6 or 8-1 and Departing will rise slightly to 8-1 from 6-1. My point being, Moreno and Romansh, not to mention Last Gunfighter and the others are all VERY good horses that will go off at 12 or 15 to 25 or 30-1. There may be money to be had. The 1 will doom WTC as he'll have to go wide down the stretch to get a piece. PM is a beast; I am liking Moreno more and more as post time nears, not sure IMLD can go that far. departing is always just there, Romansh too unpredictable to bet on and then with the 2, 8 and 9, pick one; I like Last Gunfighter, the 9. Still going: 5 w/ 3,6,9, maybe throw in WTC in super keys, a tad to win on the 3.
Can't wit for this race; will be there. Perfect PP for palace, rough post for WTC, especially since Moreno (3) and IMLD (4) will be the speed. Palace can tuck in behind the 3 and 4 and will be ready to pounce at the right moment. Key to the race, pace-wise, will be if IMLD presses or tries to arrest the lead away from Moreno. If Moreno sets a hot pace, there is a lot of long-shot closing speed in this race (last Gunfighter, Prayer for Relief come to mind) or some steady cruisers like Romansh and Departing could benefit. Either way, I like Palace Malice to win handily w/ Moreno, Departing and Last Gunfighter; I don't think this'll be WTC's day.
Amazing; every year at leaf 10 of the top 50 an 5 of the top 25 are out due to injury. Until we copy Europe, this'll keep happening. However, this is a great crop of 3 year olds. Very concerning though that both Honor Code and Shared Belief have minor injuries that could turn into more serious ones. They could follow the Pamplemousse, Uncle Mo and Friesian Fire...
Just watched the race again, Conquest Titan reminds me a bit of Ice Box from a few years back in his 3 yr old campaign. Sometimes it may be too late, but a run is always coming. Titan sets up well as a Derby horse.
Conquest Titan is a major Triple Crown threat.
Conquest Titan. Last race was sensational; a son of Birdstone, same mechanical, machine-like finishing kick.
Oops, okay: 1. A national voice is needed 2. Get rid of Lasix and the drugs 3. Close down degenerate tracks (Finger Lakes, Calder etc) 4. Get on TV 5. Make getting into the game more accessible 6. Explain how to wager exotically better on TV 7. National promotions
