To continue what I was saying, if you want to say that she was a all time female polytrack great i cannot argue with that. If she would have competed in a few in a few more of the open Grade Ones in Calif. i would take out the word female, But i cannot do it under the circumstances.
Kelso, Gun Bow, Dr. Fager, Seattle Slew, Forego, Damascus, you think that Zenyatta belongs with that group you know zippo about horse racing, and thats only a mere sample of great horses that tower over her.
icy we are just having a little fun with this. it is a good arguement one way or the other.
Great point ghandi, most everyone knows that this was a sympathy vote for Zenyatta. Blame was clearly HOY but a majority of voters cast dishonest votes and a majority of them know it.
Now this is a real race horse, not a phony like you knew you. Ran against the best male and female horses in all of her races for the last three years. Certain people (the Mosses) should take notice that if you want respect you have to earn it on the track. You shouldn't have to beg for a award, just go out and run against the best, don't pick charity spots all year and then run your fresh and non tested horse in one big race and expect knowledgeable people to bow at your feet.
The pro Zenyatta forces are really losing it. Just admit she was annointed HOY and only god knows why. Not one siginiture win in 2010 but when you lower the bar this is what happens. Actually I think we can make Zenyatta HOY in 2011. I mean why not. Wins and losses don't matter so lets just give it to her. She will still be immensely popular to her legion of fans. She will have the same amount of quality wins that she had in 2101 (ZERO). The mosses can surely keep whining and crying for another year.
The problem is most Zenyatta fans don't know the back of the horse from the front. They never watched a race before Zenyatta and won't watch one after. That arguement holds no water. The only thing that should matter for the HOY in 2010 is what was done on the track. Blame ran in open legit Grade One races while Zenyatta ran in restricted Grade Ones that most people (even some of her supporters) agree contained very little quality. Very few of them had or have even won a race in 2010. You can make the case that the best horse she ran against was Switch who may develope into a nice horse but in fact was only a three year old filly. Despite how they ran in the BC , Blames competition was much much better. I just can't see the rationale of the voters saying that Zenyatta hadf a better year. This was a sympathy vote that should not have happened. It devalues the award .
PS: At this point HOY meaans nothing. The voters lowered the standards to get Zenyatta the award so in the forseeable future it will be like who cares.
Not true mindy. Just the facts. Blame ran against better horses. Blame beat better horses. Blame beat Zenyatta. Now make your case.
Listen Medlocke tell me if I am wrong, wasn't it you who said that this was one of the strongest BC fields ever. Who were you talking about because all of the horses you just knocked were part of this great field. If Zenyatta had run against legit horses at least a couple of times last year she might have tasted defaet also. In the race that Blame lost Hainsefield ran a super race and I would have to say that even the great Zenyatta would have eaten his dust. Zenyatta never ran against a quality field except for the BC. I mean come on, Switch a three year old filly the was just coming into her own. Zenyatta was life and death to beat her and then she came back in the BC sprint. She has all the makings of a nice filly but when facing Zenyatta she was just getting her act togethe. A for St Trinians please tell me what she has won. As for your knock on RA it really shows how ignorant you really are. Racing fans in masse acknowledge she had one of the greatest campaigns ever in 2009. She had a number of victories that tower over anything Zenyatta has done in her whole polytrack career. As for Joke of the year it is Zenyatta getting HOY after not winning one memorable race all year. The mosses wined and cried for their horse and ther the voters fell for it. Shame on them.
