I don't think Chrome will bounce but he may lose because the Awesome Again has at least 2 factors that move Dortmund up. Many fake 10f horses moved up (particularly in speed figures and ratings) over the years on the Californian speedways when running at 9 furlongs.
  • sczen50 · I was wondering the same thing and if they'll just take it easy on him..and let Dortmund go if he starts to run out ahead in the stretch. So they don't go all out to 'save' it for the BCC. · 28 minutes ago
Ugh I hate these premature non injury retirements. Just ridiculous the horse didn't get a chance to prove anything
http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/looks-like-breeders-cup-is-a-go-for-nyquist/#.V-24TzShO88.facebook Looks like they're on for the breeders cup
Awww Tamarkuz is scratched :(. He will hit the board in the BC Dirt Mi. 1st- JOKING, by daylight devouring the hot pace horses. 2nd- Holy Boss 3rd- Weekend Hideaway
Quezon wins and upsets Wavell Avenue who finishes a game 2nd.
Jockey Frankie Dettori thought he might be without a mount for this year's Arc de Triomphe, but he'll now have the chance to win his 5th Arc after he got the call this evening from trainer Aidan O'Brien to ride Order of St George in the race on Sunday. LOL, a little ironic considering it was Dettori who rode Wicklow Brave to upset victory over Order of St George in the G1 Irish St Leger on his last start. Final declarations and jockey assignments will be released on Friday with 16 expected to go to post for this year's renewal.
My choice in the Arc, especially with Frankie. If going is soft or worse, Harzand cannot be ignored.
World class....enough said.
I was very hyped for this filly, and I still am. Any news?
Apparently there's this rumor floating around that he passed away. I doubt this is true, but just in case has anyone heard anything?
I would Gamble and send him to the classic!
Any news on Union Strike or Lady Stardust?

D-Day coming up very soon for this horse! I'm very nervous for him after this big layoff, let's hope he puts in a great performance and goes into the BC Dirt Mile as one of the top choices, but I'm sorry folks, I have my doubts! But let's hope I'm wrong here!
First, congratulations to Songbird and her team. What a race, Where I saw it I actually did not know the results, but was very pleased when I learned just how well she did. Incredible. Second, regarding the Distaff - they have so far confirmed, but they have not seen the performance by Beholder and Stellar Wind in the Zenyatta. I know I am eating crow because I said I thought they would skip the Distaff. I still see that as an option. We shall see. Third, I think people who are Songbird fans ought to not hope that a stakes record is set in the race, because if it is it is unlikely it will be set by Songbird. The record is held by Inside Information who set it at 1:46.15. To give you an idea of how fast that is, Beholder's fastest mark at the distance is 1:47.77 which she set in the 2013 Breeders Cup Distaff at Santa Anita when she was 3 years old. Songbird's fastest time at this distance is 1:49.56. She would have to run almost 3.5 seconds faster than her fastest time. To match Beholder's mark she would almost have to run 2 seconds faster. Do I think Songbird can do this? No. I do not think at this point in her development, that Songbird can run a 1:46.15 in a 9 furlong race. Next year, possibly. But this year it would be unlikely. Do I think she can win? Of course. This is horse racing and she is very, very talented. But it will not be easy. Zenyatta has the record on Pro Ride for the Distaff at Santa Anita of 1:46.85 - the only other horses to crack the 1:47 time barrier in the race. This is for those who think Zenyatta could not run fast. Stellar Wind's fastest time at the distance is over 1:49 so perhaps she is in the wheelhouse for Songbird at this distance, but remember at Del Mar she ran a 1:41.54 in the Clement Hirsch which is over a second faster than Songbird's best at this distance. And remember that Cavorting ran a 1:40.14 in the Ogden Phipps, though that is a 1 turn race at Belmont. She also ran the 1:48.61 in the Personal Ensign at Saratoga which is almost a second faster than Songbird's Coaching Club win. I only right this, as usual, so that people will temper their expectations and keep them realistic. If Songbird's connections go forward and enter her in the race they are to be given credit because as I noted, she has nothing to run for other than history. :-)

  • Jerzmade · Pebbles well said... Yes songbird is a freak but let's not jump her ahead of zenyatta or Rachel yet. And plz let's not even compare her to Ruffian yet either, that horse was just in a different world. Songbird must race against the boys first or even lets see her go against beholder then we'll go from there. But I do love songbird she amazes me every race with the ease she wins, honestly I don't think I've seen the whip be used once on her yet I could be wrong tho · 2 days ago

I have cried at the end of only 2 races in my life, that spans over 7 decades. The first time was at he end of the 1973 Belmont. As a pace handicapper who is constantly in contact with the tele-timer, my jaw dropped when I saw Secretariat's 6 furlong split @1:09.4. I turned to my buddy and yelled," Call the fire department, he's setting the track on fire." By the time he crossed the finish line and the timer stopped @2:24 flat- I KNEW. I knew that I had just witnessed the GREATEST. I cried. Then, yesterday. I was not rooting for American Pharoah. I left him out of my 7-horse exacta box. I had become very cynical and jaded by being in a horse racing desert for the last 32 years; the last 13 Derby-Preakness-Winning-Belmont-Failures. Yesterday, when I saw the 6 furlong split@1:13.4, I became alarmed. No one of the other horses was pushing American Pharoah towards failure. Instead, they let a speed bred-horse with a doasge of 4.3 turn for home with a lead off an average pace. I was angry. And frustrated. After 3 decades of trainer and jockey plots to prevent a Triple Crown, why NOW? Was everyone afraid to stick their 1-1/2 mile-short-necks out and take a chance on more pace. So, when American Pharoah won...I cried. All of my frustration and broken-herartedness; all of my falling in love with DerbyPreakness winners; all of my $2win bets; all of my $2show bets; all of my 7-horse exacta schemes. It all came out. And, I felt cured. I felt as if, it was OK to love again; I was CURED.We all were.
TARA'S TANGO
Forget what I said earlier about the Awesome Again being a close race. With their respective post positions, Chrome will break like a bullet and move out trapping Dortmund. Even with blinkers, expect a poor break by Rafael Bejarano on Dortmund. Locking in the Chrome/Hoppertunity exacta!
