1 1/8m sounds like a good fair distance. I know 7 horses that I would love to see in the race, they are: Beholder California Chrome Exaggerator Nyquist Songbird Solow (a superstar on turf but he will handle fast dirt no problem) *American Pharoah *AP needs to be brought out of retirement for this one race, train him up and lets see IF he really can beat the BEST of the BEST. :-)
WOW, this horse is a beast, can't wait to see him at Royal Ascot. Very excited about it. :-D
What a great turf horse this was, what a shame we couldn't see him compete in the BC Mile in 2014 and win his 3rd one!!! Damn, a race between Wise Dan, Solow and Tepin would have been incredible to see!
The rednecks must have loved this horse!!! ha ha
When and where are we gonna see Obviously next?? I am guessing the G1 Shoemaker Mile? the race he won last year.
Has there been any news on him lately?
Mark Casse announces that Catch a Glimpse will face the boys in G3 $500k Penn Mile June 4 at Penn National.
I was wrong about Destin in the Kentucky Derby. With 5 weeks layoff (instead of 8), I'm picking him again to win the 2016 Belmont Stakes. Destin/Exaggerator/Suddenbreakingnews/Brody's Cause.
Has been retired. Per Bloodhorse
Connections should really consider putting Gun Runner in the Belmont, there's no Nyquist to worry about now, and where is the pace in the race?? Gun Runner could lead, and set fast but sensible fractions, he could dominate and steal the race from the front!!! There's a very big prize on offer, and Gun Runner could take the winners share, IF he can hold off Exaggerator in the stretch (which is doubtful, but not impossible). :-)
best freshman sire ever?
Here's the story with Nyquist. O’Neill said that Nyquist has an elevated white blood-cell count and that his temperature, after returning to normal Monday afternoon, was up to 101.2 degrees mid-morning Tuesday. His normal temperature is 100.3, O’Neill said. O’Neill said that Nyquist would be put on stronger antibiotics to treat the illness and that he would return to California when he’s healthy. O’Neill said he is not sure where or when Nyquist would return, but he did say he hoped the horse could run this summer at Saratoga, in either the Jim Dandy on July 30 or the Travers on Aug. 27.
Breaking news Dortmund just has his first timed work 3 furlongs 39:20
In light of the results of the first two Triple Crown races, I would propose we reopen the debate surrounding Uncle Mo's distance limitations which ended for some people with Nyquist's victory in the Kentucky Derby. My opinion has never wavered. I had doubts about Uncle Mo's distance ability as a racehorse; I have those same doubts regarding his progeny. There is no question that Nyquist handled the classic distance of the Derby and Preakness, finishing first and third, but the performances of the other Uncle Mo babies were not as impressive. In the Derby, Mo Tom finished a nonthreatening eighth and Outwork finished fourteenth. In the Preakness, Laoban was sixth, Uncle Lino, seventh and Abiding Star, eleventh and last. What I take away from this is that Nyquist proved HIS ability, not his sire's. And what worries me even more is the possibility that Nyquist's greatest strength is his guts. Did he handle the distance through talent or determination? I think we might have seen a horse, much like California Chrome, who has simply outrun his pedigree. It will be interesting to watch as the Uncle Mo crop continues to reach the races.
Nyquist out due to a fever....what a shame....!
Santa Anita 5/23/2016 Dirt 6F 1:17.60 Handily 7/7
In his last 2 starts, A Shin Hikari couldn't have been more impressive if was Winged Pegasus himself. First, he travels to Sha Tin and from gate to wire just about galloped the field bowlegged in winning the G1 Hong Kong Cup. Then he travels to France and completely annihilates the G1 Prix d'Ispahan field by 10+ lengths, on heavy ground no less, against a field that included the likes of New Bay, Dariyan, Erupt, Vadamos, Mondialiste, Silverwave, My Dream Boat, & Wild Chief. Look out Royal-Ascot, because this horse is 100% for real.
California Chrome will have a serious rival for the 2016 #1 world ranking spot after this Prix d'Ispahan performance.
Can't wait for this debut!
This is going to be a good race. Is Destin the only front runner so far? I kind of like his chances on a slow pace. I like Exaggerator to win. If Churchill was not such a speed favoring track then he would be working on a triple crown right now. He'll be close if it's a slow pace and will close if it's a fast pace, but he'll have to watch out for SBN who ran a solid race in the KD and for the other closers that did not get the trip they hoped for in the KD (Creator and Mo Tom ran into each other going wide).
