At least they were smart this time to go with a different trainer rather than Asmussen.
Zayat got rid of Baffert and Asmussen and I would have too based on the lack of longevity with horses at that time. Prayer for Relief has a big shot in the Classic and has a grinding style that works. He beat and competed with the best horses all year. He's coming in fresh and working like a machine....definitely going to pay off big!!
BBC sets up for a closer. More often BCC at SA is won by closers. Zivo is a good closer. I like him here. Other than that I see a battle in the stretch Tonalist and CC. Speed bias favors CC if he is in his best form.

Hey Blabs, no hard feelings about the Greeks in a wooden horse gag??? Let's buy a Mass-bred >> http://www.drf.com/news/raffetto-signs-consultant-new-england-hbpa
  • Sullivan · Great guy - best guy in the business. Understands the game, understands what fans want, understands what horsemen want, understands what makes history... I was lucky enough to meet him just once before. Wish I was old enough to have had it mean something, but this guy is really the real deal. He's the first person to implement any points or win and you're in concept. He knew Holy Bull's connections and heard they were going to the Donn and then the Pimlico Special, so he put up an additional million to the horse that won both if it ran in the MassCap. Just his luck, Holy Bull breaks down and Cigar takes the bait. Why he came back for the second year? Got to love Mott. And to think I could almost hear Moseley turning over in his grave... · 5 hours ago

I now own this mare and she is making a lovely dressage horse. How would I get in contact with her owners or a win photo from this race she won?

This is the ONLY arena I think where a trainer REALLY can make a difference: keeping an animal OUT of contests that will negatively effect HIS running style.

  • amino998 · Gee Mary, one would think you'd concur in disagreement with the assertion that trainers ONLY REALLY can make a difference by keeping an animal OUT of contests that will negatively effect HIS running style. t_v using the rare "I think" screams doubt :D · 7 hours ago

Unfortunately the group that is appointed to protect the integrity and safety of the game, seems to be fueled by their greed and stupidity in protecting their brand. I am sure they are well aware of many wrongdoings involved in the game . Yes occassionaly they will pluck their scapegoats out of the hat and feed them to the public. For them at least , this buys them time to "PROTECT THEIR BRANDS"
  • travel_vic · you think it is JUST co-incidence that the "knackers" and rendering yards are located only a few blocks from this track? · 7 hours ago
From AtTheRaces.com: Connections of Brown Panther have announced he'll attempt to erase the memories of going pre-race mental prior to Sunday's G1 Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine and will in fact ship to Santa Anita to run in the upcoming G1 Breeders Cup Turf.
  • travel_vic · Id fire that idiot rider. Now have heard that radio communications among the outriders showed that after the jockey was dumped, one outrider expressed concern about helping the horse and rider to the post, BUT, the rider REFUSED and then not putting his feet in the irons, the horse was off. A good friend who works with the vets in the quarantine barn say that the horse was an known "bad actor" so all ON COURSE were prepared for his antics but the rider was NOT. · 7 hours ago
HRTV will present comprehensive live coverage leading into, and continuing through, the 31st Breeders' Cup World Championships Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park. On both days, the network will televise all of the Breeders' Cup races live (which will also be available via www.hrtv.com), with the exception of the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) as the only domestic horse racing cable channel of the event. Article on Bloodhorse
Strong 6F work this morning at Golden Gate, looking good! http://www.hrtv.com/videos/workout-shared-belief-102114/?VideoCategoryId=0

  • FollowMal via Disqus · Watched that work. He's a goer. Very serious when he runs. Went and looked at CC's work out from the 18th. Good workout too. Slightly faster than SB, but it's the circumstances of the race that determines the winner, not just speed. Enjoy watching this gorgeous horse go! · 8 hours ago
I do not know how many follow or know about Finger Lakes. Keep in mind it is a tier 1 racetrack in Upstate N.Y. . What happened there today in the 5th Race is a shame and a complete embarrasment to the Racing Fan. Before i go further and not to mislead you, this result cost not only me but many others. So the following rant is on a personal level. The #1 horse shifted and acted up in the gate, you could see that the jock had to dismount the horse. Rather than taking im out and having the tarck vet look him over, they reloaded and ran the race. The horse finished dead last in the field and did not finish the race. Before you add to the sour grapes conspiracy theory on my behalf. The #1 horse was the 2/5 favorie. I will accept any handicapper to say he was not worth it. But i am sure that this is a common occurance that 2/5 shots pull up. The horse apparently got hurt in the gate. I have seen it on numerous occassions at Belmont and Aqueduct. It seems as though they do not want to scratch the horse and lose out on the big takeout from such a prohibitive chalk. They would of had to refund the entire pool on that horse. Many come on this site and attack the industry for not protecting horses from the trainers and owners that use illegal meds. Well what about the damn industry that turns its back on not only their horse, but their fans who support their game at the windows. I am sure the way this horse did not finish up the race, the injury might be permanent. If the owner of that horse does read this site. If it were my horse,i would lodge a law suit against the track and its' mishandeling.
  • Guest via Disqus · Even a non betting fan would find that appalling. I have faint memories of Barbaro's breakdown and thankfully I've never been on hand to witness · 10 hours ago

Wonder where Mike Smith will wind up, now that Beholder is out. Would be a shame for the BC winningest jockey to wind out without a horse in the Distaff.
I would love to see Heitai compete in the BC Turf Sprint. He's run amazingly this year and deserves a chance to show off his game at the top level.
Beholder out....really hurts the lineup for Friday's races.
Hardest Core fires every time. Anyone predict what his M/L will be?
why am I unable to view this vidio ?
Imagine in ANY sport, being able to PROJECT the ability to overcome UNKNOWN competition. If any one could do that, AND no one can, they would be called clairvoyant and be a millionaire.
Goooooooooooo Jess ! ! !
Ocean Night (Curlin), is a monster, very big for 2yr old. High hopes for all of then.jlp
