What the Nation is saying about the Breeders' Cup Sprint...

No, Secret Circle probably does not live vicariously through himself, but I do find him to be one of the most interesting horses currently in training.Read More

A chorus of Midnight Lute's progeny are drumming up wins across the country. Can a horse win an Eclipse Award with only two starts? Should a horse who has not run since May be considered? Will a tragic passing sway the vote?Read More

  • tmallios1 · In theory Goldencents is a better horse than those being considered for the Eclipse award as a top sprinter. In Reality, judge him by his races up to 7F.That is a sprint,1 mile races are the middle distance. Regardless if he is running and winning the Cigar Mile..Other than maybe Groupie Doll,he will not be facing any sprinters in this race.So how can he be rewarded and credited with a sprint victory. Judge him by what he did in sprints. He did nothing,he lost to horses that were nothing special.Yes he was close, but bottom line he lost.Any horse during a race can have bad luck.Regardless of who wins the award, there will be controversy. There is no clear cut winner, that is not a good enough reason to try and invent one. · 157 days ago ·

If there are 2 trainers that should come to grips with themselves and smell the coffee,it is Doug O'neil and Peter Miller.I would suggest they fly up to Toronto and take one of Vics classes on pace makes the race. The race i am focusing on is the sprint. One trainer that should avoid this race at all costs,is Peter Miller. The one trainer that should be first on line when the entries are handed in is Doug O'neil. This race idoes not have Speed,it has 6 Turbo Jet rocket ships, that can easily go.43 to the half, depending on the Track Superintendant. So Peter Miller wants to run 1 of these front running rockets here. His other option, take on the Fillies and Mares in the 7F Sprint. With Cluster of Stars ,staying in Gotham City,Renee becomes the absolute loose speed, yes she might see a little pressure, but that is expected when you run for Millions. The next in line is Goldencents.Does he have a shot in the Mile.I guess, every horse theoretically does.Maybe his chances are about 15% to win. If he goes in the Sprint,he might be my pick to win ,along with Lumberjack. They are the only 2 legitimate closers here. Yes i know points beat him last time, but Points sat a perfect trip here.Do not be fooled by the 43 half. The pace fractions were soft. So guys, give Vic a call,i hear seats at the seminar class are at a premium. If not, just look at the form.Maybe that can save you some dissapointments come Breeders Cup Day.
Wouldn't it be nice to see Reneesgotzip take on such stalwarts as Groupie Doll, Book Review, Judy the Beauty, Sweet Lulu and Dance to Bristol?Read More

  • yargs · Flawed logic here on the chart that supposedly shows a bias. Absolutely none of those 5 horses were legitimate contenders in that race. Teddy's promise was 50-1 last year, Golden mystery 15-1, GGGal 8-1 with dubai majesty sitting a nice stalking spot behind the 2 speed horses....the problem isn't the distance, it's the class and inability of less quality animals trying to steal a race that is usually loaded with speed. · 179 days ago ·
