What the Nation is saying about the Yorkshire Oaks...

As I woke up this morning and sifted through my morning emails, I was struck with some strange news from across the Atlantic, via an article on Thoroughbred Times, prompting me to wonder … What exactly do the French have against top English fillies? Believe it or not, unless there is a quick reversa...Read More

BLUE BUNTING won a third Group 1 and a first against older horses with a gutsy effort on the Knavesmire to fend off the persistent challenge of the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Vita Nova. The dual Classic winner was sent off the 11-4 favourite and was subsequently cut into 6-1 second favourite for more Cl...Read More
  • medlocke · This was a great race!! A real duel in the final furlong between English 1000 Guineas and Irish Oaks winner, Blue Bunting. And Henry Cecil's lightly raced 4yr.old daughter of Galileo, Vita Nova. Wonder of Wonders also ran a very respectable 3rd in this race. Vita Nova really went down fighting. I thought she ran an incredible race given that this was her first ever start in G1 company, and only her 6th career start. Godolphin have to be over the moon about how Blue Bunting has performed for the stable this season. I would imagine. Ironic how fate is. Because I really wonder if we would've even seen Blue Bunting in the Epsom, Irish, or Yorkshire Oaks had Godolphin's star 2yr.old filly from 2010, White Moonstone, stayed healthy? · 286 days ago ·

  • Rossington · Even with the defection of Snow Fairy out of Thursday's G1 Yorkshire Oaks, it's still reads a quite a deep a field, indeed. The cream of the crop among the 3yr.old fillies, who have battled each other from Epsom to the Curragh, and now on to York are all entered. Blue Bunting, Banimpire, Wonder of Wonders, and Laughing Lashes. All very talented 3yr.old fillies. All capable of winning this race if at their best? There's also still some depth among the older mares as well. The Sire Michael Stoute trained, Crystal Capella. Who thrashed Redwood at Newmarket in the G2 Princess of Wales Stakes, and finished a very respectable 4th behind Midday in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Also, a filly certainly not to be overlooked is the Sir Henry Cecil trained, Vita Nova. Put into this race after Midday ended up going in the Juddmonte International Stakes today against the boys. Vita Nova is lightly raced, but has 3 win's and 2 place efforts in only 5 lifetime starts. Including back to back 2nd place finishes at Haydock behind Ferdoos in the listed Pinnacle Stakes, and behind Gertrude Belle in the G2 Lancashire Oaks. Vita Nova is the 4yr.old daughter of none other than the great sire himself, Galileo!! She's certainly one to keep an eye out for in this race, IMO. · 287 days ago ·
