  • amino998 · Thanks for the tip, mdracing >> now for the rant >> Whitney Invitational HANDICAP? The defending Whitney and BC Classic champ gets in with 122 and only gives from 3-5 lbs to the top contenders { 5 lbs to a non-stakes winner}. Baffert must have considered the 119 and 118 issued to Paynter and Liaison an UNvitation >> A repeat winner would be a *highlight* for the sesquicentennial, but really? They face a more difficult choice of weights for the Fourstardave. · 849 days ago
Will be televised on NBC at 5:00 on Saturday.
I think this could finally be Cross traffic's time to break his 2nd place streak, and win.
In looking at this years race. I truly believe that Ron the Greek will be a handful and hard to beat .The race he ran at gulfstream earlier in the year basically knocked him out.it was an eye popping performance .his cross country trek did him no favors. At charlesrown he was a victim of a paceless race, the same can be said about the foster. Bill Mott is nobodys' fool, i truly believe he is pointing this horse to the whiyney like last year. The entry of Cross Traffic will insure that nobody will go on the lead and walk the dog. The pace fractions should be legitimate.I think billy has him ready to repeat his gulfstream performance. a duplication of that race ,and mott is accepting the trophy.
I hope Golden Ticket enters. He would be my pick. If I bet this race I have to find value, and me thinks that Fort Larned will be hammered down by the punters. I think MMM connections will skip the race, so fingers crossed he enters :)

  • buckpasser · Jobs will be lost, not just direct racetrack jobs but businesses like farriers, vets etc that are dependent on the horse industry. · 1229 days ago
  • buckpasser · The only time I have seen the entire industry come together to defeat or alter a govt grab for slots money was in PA. The gov arepublican who promised the horse industry that he would not raid the slots fund, came in and surprise didn't keep his word and was going to take almost $72 million out. The entire industry really pushed back and in the end only a few million left, but that money went into agricultural programs and PA fair circuit which indirectly benefits the horse industry. So it was a win for the industry. · 1229 days ago
We have 31 years of Whitney history in the HRN database, but only 7 of them are prior to 1988. If anyone has data on older Whitney's they could add, that would be great!
Surprised to see no one has picked Flat Out yet in my Whitney poll.
