  • medlocke · At her best, the French mare, Stacelita, will be the one to beat in this year's United Nations. A 4-time G1 winner in France, she ran 3rd in her seasonal debut behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the G3 Prix La Coupe. Stacelita won the G3 Prix La Coupe in 2010, and used the race to vault herself to a 2nd place finish, beaten by a nose, by Midday in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, and a G1 win at Deauville in the Prix Jean-Romanet. Stacelita also has G1 win's in Prix Saint-Alary, the Prix De Diane(French Oaks), and the Prix Vermeille. She won her first 6 career starts before finally losing her first race in the 2009 Prix De l' Arc De Triomphe to Sea The Stars. · 334 days ago ·

George and Lori Hall’s Sleepless Knight is coming up to Saturday’s $750,000 United Nations Stakes (G1) in top condition, trainer Kelly Breen says, and that’s a good thing because the mile and three-eighths event has come up very tough.   “He looks exceptionally well,” Breen said. “He’s training...Read More
  • medlocke · I think Chinchon being the morning line 5-2 favorite for this year's G1 United Nations is based in large part to the career best he ran in this race in 2010. Showing an admittedly impressive turn of foot at Monmouth that day. But since last season's United Nations, Chinchon has finished 6th in the G2 Prix Foy, 6th in the Pattison Canadian International Stakes, 5th in this year's G1 Sheema Classic, and most recently, 5th in the G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup. IMO, at her best, the French race-mare, Stacelita, is the one to beat in this year's United Nations. A 3 time G1 winner in France. Stacelita won the G1 Prix De Diane(French Oaks) and the G1 Prix Vermeille in 2009. She won the G3 Prix La Coupe and the G1 Prix Jean-Romanet in 2010. Stacelita also ran in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood in 2010, and was beaten only a nose by Midday in that race. She finished 3rd in her seasonal debut in the G3 Prix La Coupe. Beaten by Cirrus Des Aigles. Who's run 4 fantastic races himself so far in 2011. 2 of them being a loss by a head to Goldikova in the G1 Prix D' Ispahan, and most recently, a loss by a head to Sarafina in the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud. I personally believe Stacelita at 7-2 is a much more appealing bet for the United Nations than Chinchon at 5-2 is. JMO. · 334 days ago ·

Jules Boutelle’s Teaks North sat the perfect trip in last Sunday’s Grade 3 Monmouth Stakes on the turf, launched his bid in deep stretch, and was up in time for a nearly-length score over Sleepless Knight.   That win should set him up perfectly for his major summer goal – the $750,000 United Na...Read More

  • medlocke · I had seen the race replays of Chinchon's last 2 races in France. Where he won the Prix Exbury and ran 4th in the Grand Prix De Chantilly. In both races, he closed very strongly from the rear of the field. Knowing that the racetracks in France are usually slower, soft turf. I remembered thinking if this colt ever got a chance to race outside of France on firmer, faster turf that he'd be a handful. When I saw him on the United Nations card today, I played him immediately. Which made my day, because I'd been on a bit of a losing streak of late. LOL. I knew Momouth's turf is notoriously fast anyway. I played Chinchon a straight $20 to win, and it returned $96. Not a wheelbarrow load by any means. But just a good feeling to have handicapped one right again, and won some money instead of donating. At-a-boy Go Go Gomez!! · 697 days ago ·
