Tom Fool Handicap

What the Nation is saying about the Tom Fool Handicap...

In four previous stakes victories, Strapping Groom had set or pressed the pace. On Saturday, the 7-year-old used a new strategy when he made up a two-length deficit to win Aqueduct Racetrack's Grade 3, $200,000 Tom Fool Handicap for sprinters 3-years-old and up.Read More
In two consecutive starts, Candyman E has edged Dads Caps in the waning strides to prevail by three-quarters of a length in stakes races at Aqueduct Racetrack. On Saturday, the two sprinters will meet again in Aqueduct's Grade 3, $200,000 Tom Fool Handicap, a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up.Read More

  • kyle.stasierowski · Great story. Also it's a great thing that Chip McEwen is doing to help all the soldiers that are coming home wounded and that have Post Traumatic Stresss Disorder (PTSD) due to what they went through during the wars they were fighting in. · 322 days ago ·
Comma to the Top, making his second start in the span of a week, set the pace, lost the lead late, came back along the inside, and got a favorable bob on the wire to win the Grade 3, $200,000 Tom Fool Handicap by a nose on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack.Read More

  • travel_vic · This one does not race very often....Ongoing injury or just a fragile sort? There is a well know physical action in all mamalian systems called Wolff's Law: Bone responds to intermittant pressure (exercise) by building up more and thicker bone...The reason the astronauts lose skeletal mass in no gravity situations, and the reason we all devlop a KNOT over the inside of the third finger of our dominant hand where we hold out pen and pencils...The more work, the stronger the skeleton IF there is enough bone there to begin with. They are going to have to bring back some of the Arabian stock soon or the breed will be doomed to more and more injury. · 413 days ago ·
  • cocoa2 · Travel_vic, Comma to the Top came out of the derby with a minor injury but seems to be completely sound now. He has strong pasterns, good hooves and straight legs. About bringing in Arabian stock, we have to be careful: not all of those Arabians are sound. I agree, though, Arabians are much better than Quarter Horses, or even Warmbloods. · 413 days ago ·
While most eyes will be on the Gotham today at the Big A, the card also boasts two other graded stakes. Second of the three will be the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap. The 6 furlong test goes as today’s 9th race and features a clash between a pair of California invaders against a field of Eastern sprinte...Read More

With Kentucky Derby fever in full flight, fans are clamoring for Union Rags – Hansen II. I’m all for that; a real honest to goodness rivalry through the Triple Crown would be great for our sport, but a couple of performances this past week have me very excited for the potential of another match-up. ...Read More

  • Mike in SB · I believe at the end of last year he was the best miler in the country, not too sure 6 furlongs is his best distance, but should set him up for the Carter. If he comes back as good as he was at the end of 2011 he could have a great year and I hope to see him in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. · 781 days ago ·
  • Floridaf · Mike, Caleb's Posse has only raced at 6f once, but he's won from 5 1/2 f to 1 1/16 mile. Judging by the field, I think he should have no problem winning. · 780 days ago ·
