Tokyo City Cup

What the Nation is saying about the Tokyo City Cup...

Jerry Hollendorfer's charge is the favorite in Saturday's 12-furlong marathon at Santa Anita.Read More
With Tyler Baze at the controls, Majestic Harbor seized control going to the three eighths pole in Saturday’s Grade III, $100,000 Tokyo City Cup, opening up an insurmountable lead around the far turn and prevailed in the 1 ½ miles marathon by three lengths in 2:29.97. Read More
Tiz Dynamic already has paid his way out since being claimed for $32,000 by trainer Richard Baltas for owner Barbara Kelly of Los Angeles last Feb. 13.Read More
When it comes to training, Richard Mandella isn’t the kind of guy who flies by the seat of his pants. Usually, that is. But you don’t win four Breeders’ Cup races in one day and gain entrance to racing’s Hall of Fame by being married to an inflexible ideology.Read More
Blueskiesnrainbows and Segway, both committed frontrunners, will try to stretch their speed 1 ½ miles in Saturday’s Grade III, $100,000 Tokyo City Cup at Santa Anita. Originally run as the San Bernardino Handicap, the Tokyo City attracted a competitive field of eight older horses.Read More

  • Mary Z. · Just relax and get it, Blueskies. His race. Would have to blow it badly to lose. Hope it's suit weather. · 105 days ago ·
  • jinlie01 · Blueskiesnrainbows is definitely the favorite in this one but the distance concerns me a little..not sure if he can hold speed. Curious to see how Segway response to dirt..not sure if he's worth betting if he's low odds. Taking a shot with Ever Rider back on dirt surface and M Puype taking over. He was the fav in BC Marathon and maybe he is finally adjusted to CA. Interested to see his ML Odds. · 104 days ago ·
Don’t expect Majestic Harbor to unleash any Azeri-type moves when he runs in next Saturday’s Grade III Tokyo City Cup for older horses at 1 ½ miles on the main track. Read More
Well, Calidoscopio didn't have it today. But hats off to the winner. Sky Kingdom looked great in the win
  • cocoa2 · Notice how no closers came a knocking? Speed bias. The distance wasn't enough nor the pace for him to come home. WTF with Jaycito... last this time in the beginning, not first · 473 days ago ·
  • travel_vic · Speed bias at that distance? Dream on....pace pace pace pace pace pace pace · 473 days ago ·
Friday’s Santa Anita Park Recap – March 22 Three wire jobs on the fast main track. Forwardly placed runners nabbed all three turf routes carded (rail at 24 feet). • Mary Z. · GLw/the single. He wasn't "adopted" by my pal due to having hind end problems. I notice a lack of a certain barn's entries in the numbers , by the blog writer, too. That's okay, though. · 474 days ago ·
  • icyhotboo · Looking at the history of racing in America we lost some fantastic horses. Luckily many weren't fatal injuries and went on to be important sires. I would have loved to see a horse like Graustark run against Buckpasser, or Hoist The Flag take down the triple, Ruffian running for a couple more years, these are just a few of the many. Hope one of you who play these P6s hit. It would be nice to see a member cash one of those. For myself it's to expensive, and also I don't believe I've ever had a day where I picked even close to that many in the money consecutively. · 474 days ago ·
In his third start off a 51-week freshening, Sky Kingdom, with Martin Garcia aboard, made short work of seven rivals in taking Saturday’s marathon Grade III, $100,000 Tokyo City Cup by 3 ¾ lengths, getting 1 ½ miles on the main track in 2:30.56. Read More

Santa Anita’s Grade III Tokyo City Cup at 1 ½ miles over a dirt surface can be a confounding contest in that it is unique to the meet and seldom offers established form.
