This race is the best that Regal Ransom has looked since he got home ahead of Desert Party in the UAE Derby back in the spring. Looking at this race from an objective point of view, I don't understand why Regal Ransom's connections don't see that the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile set's up as a much better race for him than the Classic. Regal Ransom is a front runner and most usually a pace setter, but the pace he'll be forced to run in the Classic will keep him from getting 1-1/4 affectively. However, cut that distance back to a mile, and you'd likely see him in a stretch dual with Mastercraftsman for the wire in the Dirt Mile. His connections need to understand that likely hitting the board in the Dirt Mile will do much more for his confidence than finishing a likely distant 8th or 9th in the Classic. What's the old saying, "some pot's better than no pot at all."

Soul Warrior was definitely overrated. Prelude runners frequently struggle. No pace allowed Regal Ransom to stroll home. Blame was clearly 2nd best and is a future graded winner. Massone ran his usual solid race to land the show.

Nice effort by Regal Ransom in the Super Derby. Race was over after 1/2 in :49. Blame was clearly 2nd best in a fine effort, and the top two quality colts should continue to progress.

Blame is definitely the steam horse in the Super Derby today... bad morning line at 7-2 as he could go favored in here over Soul Warrior and Regal Ransom.

The Sooper Derby may be wide open... but I like Blame in here...

I agree Invasor. Massone has placed in multiple graded races and could offer value under Garrett Gomez. Regal Ransom is probably the one to reel in, and look out if he is fit enough in first start since Ky Derby.

The '09 Super Derby looks like a great betting race with a handful of promising runners.

Yes, the timing of the Super Derby (Sept. 19th) gives the Mine That Bird camp a healing period, and they still have seven weeks to the BC Classic. Makes the most sense to go that route.
