What the Nation is saying about the Pocahontas...

This year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies is shaping up as a most intriguing affair. Many of the top contenders have truly done nothing wrong in their short careers. With all of this unfettered potential coming together on the square at Santa Anita, the race for young distaffers could prove one of...Read More

  • dani.pugh · Odd the difference in pace in the two races. The boys sprinted their first six furlongs while the fillies ran a comparable first quarter but then slowed down considerably through the next half. That early energy distribution most likely was the cause of the slow final times, especially since most of the males were coming in off of sprints. IMO, this early in the year, I would have made the race 1 mile, for both sexes. You are asking many to go a distance they haven't even been close to, off of maybe one or two sprints prior. · 222 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · Most impressive baby performances do the same thing: run away from all challengers and does not tell you a thing about thier grit. Can recall a telling statement Woody Stepens made about a colt cut from the same cloth, Devil's Bag; "I want to see what happens when another hooks him and looks him in the eye. THEN we will see what happens." We found out. · 540 days ago ·
