Frankel A Perfect Ten!
HE'S BACK. Frankel made it a remarkable ten wins from ten career starts with a scintillating reappearance in easily seeing off his old rival Excelebration for the fourth time.

Put this race in perspective. Excelebration with a Timeform rating of 133. The third highest rated horse in the world behind Frankle and Black Caviar. Aidan O'Brien even managed to slip in a 2012 seasonal debut race for him at the Curragh in Ireland, and he romped home easily that day in the G3 Gladness Stakes. Conventional wisdom would've been that race fitness, if nothing else, should've been on Excelebration's side at Newbury. Frankel comes in off of a 200+ day lay-off, and really decides this race for everyone before it ever really gets started. He buries a cracking good horse in his own right in Excelebration again, for a 4th time, faster than you can say Jack Sprat. And he wins going away by some 4 or 5 length's hard held, in hand. Every time I see this horse race these days, that old Rolling Stones song, "Beast of Burden" starts playing over and over in my mind. LOL.

Breeders' Cup not likely for Frankel
It's "not ruled out completely," but it seems unlikely we will see the European star in America this year.

I'm just glad we'll at least get to see him on TV. I wouldn't have blamed them if they had retired Frankel after his 3yo season.

@ajmindiola- He will be facing better horses in Europe than he ever will in the BC. Sir Henry said as long as he is relaxed and his mind is right they will stretch him out to 10 furlongs. euro analysts feel if he does that successfully they may try him in the Arc.

Gio Ponti aside, have there been other successful milers from the US to travel abroad? If Frankel wont come to us, I would like to see ours go face him (however unlikely...its still fun to dream)

Miler course in the Uk are completely froreign with crazy turns and up hill stretches....It would require a long term adaptation....Goodwood alone is a course for horse.

There have been a few top European horses come over for the Breedeers Cup, Miesque, Dancing Brave, etc. but if we want the top Europeans the purse for the Turf and Mile need to be increased. Why not eliminate a few of the 2 year old races, the 2 year old sprint for example and increase the Turf purses.

IMO if Frankel doesnt win at 10F this year it will hurt his legacy.

If Sir Henry Cecil and Prince Khalid Abdullah don't send Frankel stateside for the Breeders Cup in 2012? Then he'll never race in America at all. Because I strongly suspect that 2012 will be the final season of Frankel's career. Especially if he just continues to maul the competition in Europe the way he did during his 3yr.old campaign in 2011? His stud value will simply be off the charts with another dominate season. Not that it's not already off the charts, anyway? But just can't see Prince Khalid Abdullah and Juddmonte risking anything beyond one more season that could effect that? But TJMO.

I'm pretty sure this is his last year racing. Sir Henry also said that there would be nothing gained by sending him to the BC since he was going to be standing stud in Europe.

Why name a horse for an American trainer then never run him in the United States?

Frankel was Juddmonte's trainer in the US. They thought the horse would be special and wanted to honor their former trainer.
