What the Nation is saying about the Coolmore Lexington Stakes...

A solid field of 12 sophomore males make up a very interesting Saturday afternoon feature at Belmont Park tomorrow in the Grade 2, $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes. There will be at least one scratch in the traditional steppingstone for the final leg of the Triple Crown, however, as we know Teeth of the Do...Read More
  • AmbitiousD · I like your pick in Summer Front. Mark Valeski looks tough, but I can see an upset in the making here with either Summer Front or Le Bernardin. I think the 9f is just a tad long for The Lumber Guy and Master Rick, but it will be a fun first 6 furlongs. · 19 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · I like the #2, just not today as I don't think he is anywhere close to form. #7 shows a classic performance prior to a big run today. #6 should improve and I do like Went The Day Well in the KD mix so he's logical. #3 is he just good or great, that last race was really a lot better than a 95 spd figure that's why I don't pay attention to sp figures as they are so subjective. That was a very good horse he beat who was going off at 1/5 by 10 lengths and he beat the rest by 10 lengths.A 1:16.4 at TP that's a big run. · 39 days ago ·

  • Mary Z. · I agree with you, icy, about not being able to ignore the speed of the 3. I've followed the 2 since before he started as he was one of those tried out without the L(but has since sadly added it.) Turf to dirt has paid off for me before, this time it's 5 mos. later for him. Then the 7 that can go ahead and use whatever speed he's got in this shorter race. Since we don't have much to go on with the 2, why not have another one up front? Finally the 6, at least consistent, has been this distance and should be around to close. · 39 days ago ·

Keeneland racing officials are looking for a field of perhaps 10 3-year-olds to run Saturday in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes, but with the apparent defection of Reveron, none of those horses has a realistic chance to make the Kentucky Derby field. Read More
Some things just seem meant to be. A few weeks ago, it appeared the chances of Derby Kitten being part of the 137th Run for the Roses were slim to none. The son of Kitten's Joy had never won anything but a maiden race in eight tries. Although he had shown good form in 2011 including a fast closing 2...Read More

  • cstphns20 · Four Triple Crown winners came from winning the Wood Memorial and that does not include Secretariat who finished third in the Wood. So what's the point? On May 1st the horse who runs the best race will win the Kentucky Derby. That's the way it has always been!! Just pick a horse you like, stay on his band wagon, bet on him to win and if he doesn't, try it again next year! · 772 days ago ·
