  • Sysonby · Well written piece. There is no question Tesio bred horses who established outstanding breeding lines. I still have to say that ignoring the fact that the mare contributes half the chromosomes to the horse is just a little bit crazy. · 99 days ago ·

After thoroughly enjoying the camera coverage of today's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, I wonder why we can’t do it this well here in the States. Read More

  • travel_vic · Little known fact: Woodbine has two separte camera crews, one required by the government for race review by the stewards which is up on the roof with the photofinsh cameras, and a second in house camera group that can be mor artsy. The track has huge photo towers (separately for grass and for the poly)...It can get really scarey up there in the late fall with the wind blowing however. · 307 days ago ·

  • footlick · ILuvTurfRacing- not a fair comparison since Zarkava only raced at 2 and 3, while Danedream is now a 4 yr old. I had Danedream, as I figured the GPdeSC didn't setup well for her and this race set up much better. · 308 days ago ·

WOW!! What a finish... Danedream? Nathaniel? YES It's Danedream!! Preview of Arc??
An international field of 12 is set for the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot Saturday. I am quite bedazzled by this brillant field; however, I am going to look past the obivious choices of Nathaniel, St. Nicholas Abbey and Sea Moon, and back the invader from Japan, Deep Brilliante. It was tough to decide between Danedream and this superb son of Deep Impact, who has yet to finish out of the money in his 6 starts. But in the end, I think his weight advantage, success on a yielding turf and success at 2400 metres all bode well. On the "Huh?" side, he has only started 6 times and Japan's best result thus far was a third by Heart's Cry in 2006. Also in the "Huh?" column: Deep Brilliante is the only 3 yr. old in the lot, explaining his weight advantage. Still, DB has shipped and acclimated well, not losing any weight. That being said, I look to Danedream to also run huge. Other entries of note include Dunaden, Shrareta, Windsor Place, Reliable Man, Brown Panther, Masked Marvel and Robin Hood. Given the stellar talent entered, this year's rendition of the King George will be brilliant to say the least!
