Dortmund looked like an absolute FREAK in his last work. Looks like he's sitting on a very big race. http://www.hrtv.com/videos/workout-dortmund-22615/?VideoCategoryId=0
It will be five years, since the only jockey in the history of the Kentucky Derby, achieved his 3rd win in the previous four years of the Derby. Now, he can't even hit the broad side of a barn. How soon has fame faded?
It's now very sadly being reported on the coursespecialist.co.uk/blogs/devastat link that Cavalryman has in fact lost his life after surgery was attempted on his leg post-Nad Al Sheba Trophy tonight in Dubai. A very classy horse who's career sadly ends with lifetime wins in races such as the G1 Grand Prix De Paris, G2 Prix Niel, G3 Nad Al Sheba Tropy, G2 Dubai Gold Cup, G2 Goodwood Cup, G2 Princess of Wales Stakes, & Coral Marathon(Esher Stakes). He also finished 3rd behind the mighty Sea The Stars & Youmzain in the 2009 G1 Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe. A fantastic middle distance horse & stayer for Godolphin for many years now, Cavalryman will surely be sadly missed.
  • jonquil · This is very sad news. He'd been such a good runner, he didn't deserve to go like that. He'll be sorely missed. :( · 4 hours ago
Sunbeau held the earnings record for nine years until Seabiscuit came along. Owned by Willis Kilmer, who also raced Exterminator, he stood at Remlik (Kilmer spelled backwards) Farm in Urbanna, VA. Kilmer passed away in 1940, and his wife Sarah Jane leased Sunbeau to Meadow Farm, where he passed away in 1944. Before his passing the three time Champion Older Male Horse, who had 8 trainers in a 5 year career, sired Meadow Stud's first stakes winner Mangohick, out of Hildene. Sunbeau rests in the Meadow Farm cemetery with Horse of the Year Hill Prince and Imperatrice, dam of Somethingroyal, who foaled Secretariat.
  • Sullivan · I heard rumor that Kilmer built a trophy room just for Sun Beau and an entire barn known as "Sunbeau Cort" but may be remembering wrong · 4 hours ago
Was it not a compliment to the Cal bettors, that the favorite of a seven-horse field was 2.2-1, and the longest shot on the board was 8.3-1? Talk about even-distribution of odds!!!!
why does this horse continue to run in stakes races that have no derby points. Interesting path to the derby if thats the goal
  • Jay Harrison via Disqus · Your answer is in that race that he ran tonight. · 6 hours ago
  • buds · i dont think so, something obviously went wrong. · 5 hours ago
Cavalryman has broken down in the GIII Nad al Sheba Trophy. No update yet but hopefully he can be saved, he's been an incredible servant for Godolphin

  • yukichan · Terrible news. This ol' warrior is a personal favorite--no official confirmation yet from Godolphin--holding on to hope that he makes it. · 10 hours ago
  • jonquil · Oh no! That's terrible. :( I hope he'll make it through this. · 5 hours ago
Cavalryman was in surgery a few hours ago still. thats the most i can gather. via Brisnet.
  • jonquil · I hope he'll be okay. :( (oops, actually replied to the wrong person. Still, I hope he pulls through.) · 5 hours ago
Pure coincidence that he stopped and backed up at the point around the last turn where a sprinter might throw in the towel? If he bled, why did it take him to do it at the perfect spot on the track!?
BREAKING NEWS: DRF"s Byron King reports from Turfway Park, when The Great War came back to the paddock area after his last place finish in the John Battaglia Memorial, there was significant bleeding in his leg. Could be the answer to why he ran so poorly, according to DRF
Wow. That was. Disappointing for many I'm sure. It almost seemed as if something went wrong for as fast as he backed out.
  • Buckpasser via Disqus · Some speculation that he might have bled, inspite of the lasix · 6 hours ago
  • SSilence86 via Disqus · I vaguely remember hearing about the bleeding before. As for now, equibase chartcaller & DRF are confirming that he bled during this race. · 5 hours ago
!st work back was 2/23... Turf please
Wife called from Minnesota....hope some of you follow my lead.
Royal Son's victory in the John Battaglia Memorial just validated Ocean Knight's victory in the Sam F Davis. Makes his victory even better knowing a horse he beat came back to win a stakes next out. GO OK!!!!!!!
  • Jay Harrison via Disqus · Yes, I was going to write the same thing! · 6 hours ago
Wow!!!! Uh, that kinda wasn't good, did not expect that bad of a performance from him
Questing the champion three year old filly of 2012, was bred to Medaglia D'Oro last night for a 2016 foal. According to Darley stables.
Could people stop posting rumors about Cavalryman until there is some definitive word? And could someone try to get that word?
Out of all the fillies that I've seen Curlin put out on the track...on the dirt ;) Stellar Wind has looked the most visually impressive to me. Great to finally see him have hopefully a top daughter.
RED IS FLORIDA HORSE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!! I'm so happy!!!!!
