Ranked number 1 in the new NTRA poll this week!! Go Gun Runner!!!
How ironic that they bred her to Ghostzapper...
Really excited to see her in person this weekend! Seeking redemption after her unfortunate trouble in the Diana.
Some Interesting stats I was looking at. Winners of Travers coming in off a win last 15 years 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 How many in this year’s field?-7 Runner-up last start before Travers 2003 (Belmont), 2009 (Haskell), 2013 (Jim Dandy), 2015 (Haskell) How many in this year’s field?-2 Finish outside top 3 zero How many in this year’s field?-1 (Cloud Computing) Haskell prep last 15 years 2001, 2009, 2015 How many in this year’s field?- 2 Jim Dandy prep last 15 years 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012 How many in this year’s field?- 4 West Coast prep last 15 years 2008, 2016 How many in this year’s field?-1 Other prep last 15 years 2004 (Belmont), 2008 (Swaps), 2014 (Curlin) How many in this year’s field-6 Jockeys last 15 years (with mounts) Castlellano-5, Velasquez-1, Smith-1, Saez-1 Trainers last 15 years (with mounts) Pletcher-2, Baffert-2, Zito-1
I really hope Gun Runner wins the classic and beats the big gray beast but may the best horse win if Arrogate wins at least he'll be only the second horse to win it twice
This just posted by David Grening: Cloud Computing confirmed for Travers. Barring change to the field, Outplay will skip & point to Pennsylvania Derby. So ,expect field of 12. https://twitter.com/DRFGrening/status/899650036186796032
If the BCC is run at 9 furlongs, then Gun Runner is definitely the co-favorite with Arrogate and Collected!!!
"Gun Runner" is the clear favourite now for the Breeders Cup Classic with most UK bookmakers at odds of around 5/2, "Arrogate" is available at 3-1, but even at 3-1 "Arrogate" is bad value!! The last 100 yards or so in the Pacific Classic has saved "Arrogate's" racing career, he was closing on "Collected", but "Collected" still comfortably had "Arrogate" beaten. "Gun Runner" is looking like a very good bet to win the BC Classic, but "Collected" is definitely the biggest danger to him, and let's not forget about "Good Samaritan", he is currently 20-1, but those odds will drop massively after he wins the Travers. "Keen Ice" is also currently a 20-1 shot for the BC Classic, and he is over-priced too.
"Collected" STEALS THE SHOW!!!!!!!!
Cliffs of Moher with the win
Not a big field for this year's renewal, but a really good one. I'm happy to see Churchill finally going up in trip beyond a mile for the first time, but I have to wonder if maybe there's some doubt about whether or not he'll get the trip since O'Brien chose to leave in Investec Derby 2nd, Cliffs of Moher, with him.
All 18 wins https://youtu.be/MJGgJbTw_Oo Just phenomenal
Entered in the Juddmonte International
Good thing horses cannot understand what humans say about them. I'm beyond disappointed in the end result. A close defeat while not giving 100% of the effort we know we've seen many times before is no better then his puzzling no-show last month. But these are horses and perfection is such a rare thing to sustain. Hopefully Bob can find the reset button and get him training well going into the Classic. I can imagine a lot will go on to get him in peak form for that race!
Great win for Collected. Controlled the pace and ran to his works at this track!
Really encouraging debut! Zatter sat the better trip and was just better. That was a strong duel from the top 3 there
From this morning's Racing Post web-site: Almanzor has been retired after a disappointing reappearance at Deauville in the G3 Prix Gontaut-Biron.
Well I just read he's gone now....meaning retired! Best to him!!! sheesh~ Too bad!
OK, how about a worldwide 21st century greatest list? 1) Frankel 2) Winx 3) American Pharoah 4) Black Caviar 5) Zenyatta 6) Zarkava 7) Sea the Stars 8) California Chrome 9) Rachel Alexandra 10) Treve Nobody call me sexist - 6 of those 10 are female.
My top 10 all time list of horses i SEEN run #1 Easy Goer #2 Zenyatta #3 Point Given #4 Skip Away #5 Go for Wand #6 Sunday Silence #7 Formal Gold #8 Rachel Alexandra #9 American Pharoah #10 Curlin #11 Afleet Alex (Honorable Mention) if you are wondering how Easy Goer is #1 and Sunday Silence is #6 with, Well head to head doesnt always tell who is better..Easy Goer was the better horse overall..Belmont stakes and overall resume shows it significantly..Easy Goer had the most raw talent in a horse i ever seen period...if you are wondering why Zenyatta is #2..it is out of pure respect for her winning streak..Not that she would have beat most on this list..But her 19-0 record i have so much respect for that i landed her at #2..Formal gold had a short career..but his last 2 last wins of his career vs Skip Away were monsterous..holds highest consecutive speed figures in history for those 2 races..Skip away is ranked ahead of him cause skip away had the much much better resume and career and did beat Formal gold also..Go for Wand was my favorite filly and she was extremely talented...Rachel Alexandra makes my list for having the courage (unlike songbird) to face the boys and beat them..in the preakness also..and her Kentucky oaks victory is one of the most eye popping wins i have ever seen by any horse male or female..Curlin was a pure powerhouse..American Pharoah makes my list cause he had such a beautiful powerful yet easy stride..And of course his resume speaks for itself..Afleet Alex makes my list off his incredible preakness and following it up with one of only a handful of Belmont stakes wins in history..completely exploded away from field in stretch..He had a short career but most of his wins were blow out powerhouse wins..i base horses on a lot of different things
