  • Mike in SB · I thought Havre de Grace's win was the most impressive of the weekend by far, and with Flat Out winning the Gold Cup, she has to be the favorite for the Classic. Actually a lot of the Breeders Cup races are starting to look pretty good. Havre de Grace, Uncle Mo and the rest in the Classic makes it look like a better race now than it did a few months ago and the Ladies Classic looks wide open now. If the Arc Winner comes over and So You Think runs in the Classic this could be a very good Breeders Cup. · 129 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Mike I completely agree about the Classic. The fact that you have some definitive stars now makes the race come up much better. I mean with the list of horses i said in my blog, there are what 6 grade one winner heading for the race? Makes it look much more competitive. · 129 days ago ·

  • medlocke · Winchester's gonna have his hand's full with Cape Blanco!! Cape Blanco's not just a 10f horse. He's got a win in the G1 Irish Derby over 12f, and a 2nd place finish behind Harbinger, but ahead of Youmzain, Daryakana, and Workforce in the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 12f. · 144 days ago ·

  • rossington · I expect Winchester to be as equally a formidable opponent for Cape Blanco over 1-1/2 as Gio Ponti was over 1-1/4 in the Man O' War and Arlington Million. That said, I still can't see past Cape Blanco winning a third straight American G1 turf stakes in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic. Cape Blanco's a proven G1 winner at 1-1/2 himself in Europe. Where it's no secret that the middle distance turf competition is a good deal tougher than it is in America. JMO. · 142 days ago ·

  • joepo · I agree with you medlocke. With Nathanial not coming over and Acclamation goiing north of the border to skip the BC turf, Caple Blanco may be a possible "single" in BC turf race on pick 3, pick 4 and pick 6 tickets. If he looks good in 1 1/2 he should be ready and well rested for BC. Looks like Treasure Beach may not run until mid - october for his next race. If he does run in BC turf, I would take Cape Blanco over him because he will be fresh, TB wont be. · 145 days ago ·

  • medlocke · @tiznow, Very much agree!! Someone commented to me that Acclamation should be ahead of Cape Blanco right now in the running for champion American turf horse. But if Cape Blanco ships back over from Ireland and win's either the Joe Hirsch or B.C. Turf, I don't know how he couldn't win the award? · 156 days ago ·

  • Medlocke · I really can't see this colt losing on grass, even at a 11/2. I'd just love to see what he could do on dirt or sythetics. The only other horse that would remotely have a chance to beat Gio Ponti on grass, in my opinion, might be Battle of Hastings. But even though he too is an excellent turf horse I'd say even his chances would be slim. I don't think either of them have ever been a 11/2, but I like Gio Ponti's chances to win at that distance better than BOH. · 860 days ago ·

  • horses · Gio Ponti is awesome. The only way I see him losing Saturday, is if Presious Passion freaks on the lead and never stops... but it would have to be pretty firm turf for that to happen... · 860 days ago ·
