Older Comments about the Jim Dandy...

Hey everyone! I finally got around to editing most of my photos from my Friday/Saturday at Saratoga. Lots of pictures of Palace Malice, Will Take Charge, and horses from the Diana, The Prioress, and the Jim Dandy, plus a lot of other stuff. Hope you enjoy them! http://www.flickr.com/photos/99885423@N04/
1 - Code West, 2 - Mylute, 3 - Palace Malice, 4 - Looking Cool but it would be nice to see him win.

  • amino998 · In the future, Mary, if you go to drf.com—click on Handicapping & PPs—then under Tools click on Live Odds and your track of interest >> you can get the results as soon as the race is official. Good place to follow the various pools prerace as well. · 1097 days ago
  • Mary Z. · Thanks, amino. I was being in a mood. It's a 20,30 year phase. I'll get over it. · 1097 days ago
The race is right around the corner, entries will be drawn today. If the connections of Moreno do follow their plans to run. Tom Amoss has got to be dancing in the streets.Based on their recent form,Mareno and Freedom Child have shown the only way they know how to run and win,is to gun to the lead.I seriously doubt a trainer would enter a horse at this stage of the game and change tactics.i may be wrong.Freedom showed in the Belmont Stakes that he will not back down. With the expected hot pace up front, this now brings Mylute into the picture as a serious contender(assuming he fires)rather than his staus prior to this.that was a horse with limited pace at the mercy of a paceless race.

  • travel_vic · Wonder if the people of the early thirties did not know what a mud mark was, or just overlooked it when the Whichone-Gallant Fox match race allowed the only mudder to skip home over the quagmire? · 1100 days ago

So, I recently heard Orb is training up to the Travers. Normandy Invasion is most likely off the Travers Trail. Itsmyluckyday is out with a pelvic fracture. Oxbow and Mylute, two of the top four 3yo, are both running in the Haskell. With that said, who is the biggest competition to my Palace Malice? At first I thought the Jim Dandy was a tougher prep race, but I think it might possibly be the Haskell? The Haskell has Oxbow (G1 winner), Mylute (G2 placed), and Verrazano (G1 winner).... The Jim Dandy seems to be a little weaker, with Palace Malice (G1 winner), Overanalyze (G1 winner), and Freedom Child (G2 winner) leading the nominees... Palace Malice seems to be the very, very early-heavy favorite for the Jim Dandy. The Haskell favortism will be contended by Oxbow, Mylute and Verrazano (my prefrence in that order)... Interesting. Rooting for Mylute and Oxbow in the Haskell; Palace Malice (obviously) in the Jim Dandy.

  • rafirox · I'm better at Parx, Betfair (closing soon, unfortunately for me) and Santa Anita...travel_vic, you always tell me (and everybody) to bet at your best tracks; so I did follow the advice and it's working for me. So, thanks, and I'm not betting Saratoga because I suck (admittedly) at it. I'd rather have my great ROI at Parx than my 0.93 at Saratoga (ouch!). · 1106 days ago
  • rafirox · Mylute just made the Jim Dandy a much tougher prep. · 1104 days ago
I'll be making my first trip to Saratoga this year and couldn't be more excited! We booked the hotel for the weekend of the Jim Dandy which is shaping up into an incredible field. We'll also be going to the racing Hall of Fame the day before. July cannot come soon enough!

  • buckpasser · Gallant Fox was not good on the mud and sunny Jim did not want to run him in Travers on a muddy track, but Woodward insisted. Gallant Fox couldn't get ant traction according to Sunny Jim. · 1486 days ago
  • travel_vic · That was Jim Dancy who won the Grand Hotel not Sun Falcon, who, stragnely enough, was at shorter odds than Jim Dandy. In the crowd that day was GOVERNOR Franklin D. Roosevelt. · 1486 days ago
