Power Jam should learn how to Conserve some of his speed if he does maybe he will be able to go longer
Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom will be represented with him first North American runner this Thursday at Keeneland. Trained by Kenny McPeek, the fillies name is Sunny Skies.
Last year's Ascot Gold Cup winner and Arc-3rd, Order of St George, beaten just over a length on his seasonal debut today at Navan in the G3 Vintage Crop Stakes by the very progressive Torcedor. Torcedor also defeated Godolphin's Twilight Payment and former BC Long Distance Cup winner, Forgotten Rules, at Leopardstown back on April 5th. Order of St George ran a very good race today though. He wasn't really pushed that hard by jockey Seamie Heffernan until the final 200 or 300 yards of the race, and having been off the track since October, I'm sure he'll come on quite a bit for this run next time out. I know the G1 Ascot Gold Cup at the royal meeting in June is the first major G1 target for him, but I'm not sure if Aidan O'Brien will try to get one more run into Order of St George or not before heading to Ascot?
Looking back over Classic Empire's race record, there is no doubt he is a pretty good horse and won some important races. For me, right or wrong, he is an easy favorite to bet against. In my view he hasn't beaten much and there are several in the Derby that just might be better than he is. If he wins, chalk up one in the lost column for me...........Oh well.

  • Kevin Black via Disqus · I was at the Ark Derby. Keep an eye on Sonnateer and Looking at Lee. Go back and watch the last 1/4 in the replay. They were moving at the end of that race. Arguments can be made against me all day, but you know you will get a hell of a price on these two. I actually wagered on Classic because they gave me 2-1 (actually 9-5.) And he got there. But I see him as overbet and easy to beat in the Ken Derby. We have a 3in sandy loam track that builds up their endurance. These two will be moving at the end of the Derby. With a good trip who knows? Just my opinion. Good luck in your plays. · 3 hours ago
I've just heard that he is a confirmed runner in the Kentucky Derby, connections didn't want to oppose 'monster turf horse' "Churchill" in the 2000 Guineas, it makes sense, he is a much better horse on dirt. He will ship later next week. He's definitely in my Top 5. :-)
I was at the Arkansas Derby last weekend and wagered on Classic Empire because they give me 2-1. He got there, but I noticed in the last quarter that Sonnateer and Looking at Lee were the fastest horses closing. Another 1/8th mile and it's a different story. I'll be keeping an eye on both of them in the Kentucky Derby. IMO they will be overlooked and we will get a good price. I feel as though it is wide open this year and either one of these two could get there with a good trip. Obviously a lot can happen, but these two are worth a wager. Oaklawn has a 3in sandy loam track that always builds up the endurance of the horses that come here to prep. I'm not counting Classic Empire out. Maybe he needed the race? But for the price, i'm going to lean towards the aforementioned. I'm sitting here watching replays of Santa Anita and just haven't fallen in love with any others. Good luck to all you players this year.
RIP brave son. So sorry to see your name on the Racehorse Memorial Wall. Condolences to the folks that loved you.

This Fair Grounds horse will be way out of his depth in the Kentucky Derby, he will do well if he finishes inside the Top 10.
Switch update: So far, she has produced a Galileo filly (Switch In Time) and Dansili (GB) colt, she is due to Galileo in May, and then returns to Galileo. Switch In Time made her first start last year August, finishing 5/10 by 3 1/4 lengths to Lancaster Bomber (troubled trip, according to notes). She is nominated to the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas (G1) at the Curragh on May 28.

Want more form boost? Hedge Fund, a well-beaten 3rd in the Sunland Derby to Hence, just came back to nearly win the Illinois Derby (lost by a nose). It was also the 2nd-fastest IL Derby ever. Just keeps looking better and better.

I hope they bring her back. With Cavorting, Beholder, Cathryn Sophia, and Curalina retired we do not want to lose any more. Forever Unbridled, Stellar Wind, Songbird and Carina Mia we at least have some good horses - competitive on the coasts.
Had her for her second win today. Late starter, but this filly is going places.
