  • icyhotboo · We still have to wait for the draw but Verrezano and Orb seem to tower over the others. The only benefit to this is the 20 horse field that along with the extra distance helps the fan/bettor get a better price somewhere else and still have a chance.Current odds are Verrazano 4/1, Orb 5/1, Normady Invasion 10/1, Goldencents 10/1, Itsmyluckyday 12/1, etc. This is the first time that individual horses have been the betting favorite over the field taken as a whole. That may change, but not yet. · 22 days ago ·

  • geldedridgling · Unless a horse is in first at all calls final race time is very overrated. In this case, Overanalyze can't control how weak or strong the pace horses are, and is content to site behind a soft pace until time to draw off and, as Bejarano said, save some for the next race. · 37 days ago ·

He was called in to the steward’s office to explain his comment. When told there was a rumor going around that he said the Garden State stewards were prejudiced, Nerud said, “That ain’t no rumor. That’s what I said.” As far as I’m concerned, the blemish is on the Garden State stewards record, not the Good Doctor’s. · 74 days ago ·

  • head_heart_hooves · Vyjack went from being a pace-pressing sprinter in his first 2 to be a front-running router in his next - a logical extension. Certainly no one, absent the connections evidently, expected Vyjack to be so far off of the pace. That was anomolous even though the sample size is admittedly small. The fact he was able to win his toughest race while getting dirt in his face, etc, may not impress everyone, but it sure impresses me. With adaptability and ability to make your own trip so important in the large Derby field, this off-the-pace win is a nice feather in Vyjack's cap. · 80 days ago ·
