"Physically she is the fittest Ive had her in two years and she is as sound as she ever has been," Moody said. "She traveled over in great shape and has pleased me with her work. I don't think Peter Moody shied away from stiffer competition by not taking Black Caviar to Dubai; I read that if she had gone to Dubai, she would have been away from home much longer than he was happy with. ILuvTurfRacing · Black Caviar may indeed prove to be a cut above the rest of the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday at Ascot? But that said, if she is ever to be beaten? This is the race that has the greatest likelihood of it happening, IMO. She's traveled some 2500 to 3000 miles to get the UK from Australia. Albeit, she has already been stabled at Newmarket for awhile and seems to have settled in pretty nicely. So I really can't see the travel at this point being a factor against her? But I do think the straight turf course at Ascot is very different and will prove as demanding a racecourse as anything she's ran over in Australia. Add into that mix that she doesn't have the greatest PP draw in the world, and that an Ascot listed "soft", "very soft", or even potentially "yielding" by race time will be much deeper and softer turf than anything she's ever run over in Australia, IMO. I'm looking for better value than 1-4 on Black Caviar, and she'll likely be even shorter than that on the American exchanges. I think Moonlight Cloud at 7-1 or even Society Rock at 12-1 could be solid each way bets in this race. Society Rock has always run very well at Ascot, and won this same race a year ago on soft ground. Moonlight Cloud just won her 2012 seasonal debut, and has solid soft ground form in France. But that's only my opinion. Black Caviar may end up proving to be too good despite those things I mentioned going against her? We shall see on Saturday!! · 336 days ago ·

travel_vic · You can NEVER compare a final time over one course directly to another. Imagine running on a beach first Close to the water and then a second time up away from it. That is how different racing surfaces are. The English courses were set up over open fields maedows or DOWNS (hence the name) without a substrate for draingae or "cushion" that articifial courses have underneath them.....Also Ascot, being over a natural surface, undulates. · 336 days ago ·
