  • Mike in SB · I have to disagree that the American horses are inferior to the European horses, the average American horse today might be better at shorter distances but our top horses are as good as any in the world. The difference as Euro Trash said is in how they are trained and the difference between American and European racing. You would think that a horse race would be the same everywhere, but American racing with dirt surface and the importance of early speed is different than racing in other parts of the world where usually the fastest part of the race is at the end. This makes it very difficult for horses from the US to win major European races and it is even more impressive when European horses ship over to win in the United States like Arazi and Arcangues in the Breeders Cup. · 302 days ago ·

  • LAZMANNICK · Mike, you put it in proper perspective. It's also important to note that N/A bred horses purchased as yearlings and shipped overseas to race do very well and I'm talking beyond Dancing Brave and Nijinsky. It works the other way to when we look back to Gallant (’57 Belmont winner) and Tommy Lee the ’59 Derby winner. · 302 days ago ·

My girl, Royal Delta. But, why deny it; this could say Stephen Foster and I'd still pick her. Or Arc, steeplechase, 5 1/2 furlong sprint, you name it, she's still my winner.

Was 2012 a year of disappointment? Was it a year where the depth of divisions was so lacking that a Turf Miler would be named Horse of the Year, Turf Champion, and Champion Older Male? Or was 2012 a year with such an outstanding group of horses, that it took one so brilliant, so versatile, and so ta...Read More

  • dani.pugh · Just because a turf miler is named HOTY doesn't mean a weak older male division. If the times of the races were sub par and the numbers were way down, I could see it but that was far from the case. The numbers that the older males threw were higher than numbers we have seen in recent years. Times were just as good if not better for that group. Just because one did not establish themselves doesn't mean it was a bad bunch. That could just as well me the group all around was talent and full of depth. It wasn't like a longshot beat the favorite. The horses that won were already well respected. RTG had a very consistent year, as did Fort Larned, MMM, and Flat Out. The Whitney, FO, FL, and RTG went 123. Look at their records, you see they run consistently fast. They were evenly matched, but also one of the best groups of older males we have seen in a long time. Times and numbers say that. · 451 days ago ·

EVERY major match race of tthe twentieth century from Zev/Papyrus to Foolish to Tyepcast/|Convenience has gone to the front runner so any race would have to have a field of at least 7 to satisfy any resemblance of a fair contest. • grey32 · medlock - this is one of those time that I agree 100%. Today is either a new beginning or the end. There is no question about it, no excuses, no tears, no bull. I do believe that her grueling campaign last year and the absurd incompetence by her connections this year may have or have hurt this fine mare. People really don't understand how grueling her campaign last year were and how reckless her lack of training were this year. Clown who bash a horse as though she actually had some input or was consulted in any of this, who insinuate that somehow she plotted to cheat some other horse, just makes me crazy. She's a horse try to please her handlers, doing the best she can with whats going on around her. She is a great horse and nothing anyone says or does changes that. It amazes me that so many are willing to shame themselves by bashing a horse, if you mad or angry bash her connections. Celebrate the horse. · 1405 days ago ·
