annmatt · 2012 does seem to look more promising for 3 year olds than 2011. Thank goodness this year is almost over. I haven't been around that long, but from early January when I started following this year's crop, I began to see a pattern develop the farther into the season we got. In the first place, it was almost funny, as well as frustrating, each week to watch the handicappers with egg on their faces trying to make sense of the week's prep racing activity. With one or two rare exceptions, it was a different winner each week! And, it continued into the Triple Crown season, with a different winner for each race! Something else I hope is different in 2012: I hope and pray that fewer horses wind up on the shelf. This year, I read nearly 60% of the runners in January were on the shelf by June! That is a distressing statistic. Happily, some of these runners have made it back, and a few are even committed to racing in 2012. I've watch closely this year the juveniles, and we seem to be blessed with quite a few very promising youngsters set to provide some thrills in 2012. · 164 days ago ·
