What the Nation is saying about the Carry Back...

Despite being hospitalized due to dehydration this morning, William Kaplan was the day's big winner, saddling two winners on the Summit of Speed card at Calder Race Course.Read More

  • Floridaf · After seeing yesterday's race, I concur. Fort Loudon made me a full-out believer in his capabilities at Calder by beating Trinniberg. · 319 days ago ·

If, like Ricky Bobby, your mantra is, “I wanna go fast,” then be sure to tune in for the Summit of Speed. If that doesn’t satisfy your speedy tendencies, then nothing will.Read More
  • BrianZipse · With Hansen sticking with routes for now, looks like I will have to wait to see him and Trinniberg hook up. I expect Trinniberg to win which ever race he enters in the Summit of Speed. · 322 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · I have to agree with you there, Brian. Throw out the Derby, and he's undefeated this year, all in graded stakes. I would like to see Hansen and Trinniberg hook up, too. · 322 days ago ·

Locally-based Indiano, last year's champion 2-year-old in Panama, earned his first graded stakes victory in the United States with a decisive win in the Grade 2, $200,000 Carry Back July 9 at Calder Casino & Race Course. The 3-year-old son of Indian Charlie sat a stalking third for a half-mile b...Read More
SASSY IMAGE (Broken Vow), like numerous professional sports teams, is a world-beater at home but highly vulnerable when she hits the road. However, a road win Saturday in the $350,000 Princess Rooney H. (G1) at Calder would greatly enhance her prospects for an Eclipse Award as champion female sprint...Read More
Paul Pompa Jr.’s D’ Funnybone was the 1-to-9 favorite in the $194,000 Carry Back Stakes (G2) against only three challengers, but just when victory seemed assured for the five-time Grade 2 winner, Gary Barber’s Coffee Boy swept past D’ Funnybone in the stretch to score a one-length upset under jockey...Read More
  • medlocke · Second big stakes race in a row that Edgar Prado has got caught "napping at the wheel" so to speak. He had D' Funnybone under a hand ride coming into the stretch at Calder. By the time Prado realized Coffey Boy was sneaking through on the rail, it was far too late for the stick to do Prado any good for D'Funnybone. Similar situation in the United Nations Handicap. When Prado sat in a stalking position on Take The Points letting Get Serious, Acclamation, and Straight Story fight it out up front on the pace. Once Prado took Take The Points to the lead, passing Straight Story, he thought he was home free again. He never saw Chinchon coming either. Chinchon came with that from last to first dash like he had been shot out of a cannon. By the time Prado realized Chichon was coming, it was to late for Take The Points as well. Remarkable 3-year-old sprinter D'Funnybone, entering off an authoritative victory last month, will be an overwhelming favorite in a short field entered for the $200,000 Carry Back Stakes (gr. III) July 10 at Calder Race Course. Already a five-time graded stakes winner, Paul Pompa’s D’ Funnybone will...Read More
Andrew Rosen's First Passage won her third in a row and became a graded stakes winner in the process as she took over from pacesetter Kays and Jays in the stretch and went on to win the $200,000 Azalea (gr. III) by three-quarters of a length July 11 at Calder Race Course.Read More
