Joshua Tree, piloted by renowned jockey Frankie Dettori, made every pole a winning one, taking Canada’s richest horse race, the Grade 1, $1.5 million Pattison Canadian International, by a half-length over a charging Dandino, Sunday at Woodbine.Read More
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Joshua Tree quite obviously loves the turf course at Woodbine. 2 wins and a 2nd in the past 3 running's of the Canadian International shows that. His form coming in was rock solid as well, having scored a win, a 2nd, and a 3rd at G2 level in 3 races prior to coming to Woodbine. He was always going to be at least one of the top 2 or 3 horses to beat in this race. With that being said, Dandino in 2nd was the real eye catcher of the race to me. He forced to go very wide through the stretch, but Jim Crowley had him absolutely motoring, cutting back Joshua Tree's lead with every stride. So much so that if the race had been another 10 yards, if even that, Jim Crowley would've likely stolen Frankie Dettori's thunder on the day, IMO. I think Imperial Monarch and Reliable Man would've both been seen to much better effect in the race if there had bin a bit more cut in the ground on the day. They're both better when the turf is relatively soft as apposed to being good to firm. · 550 days ago ·
