  • ekindy · @Ruffianlover I think the differences are greatly exaggerated. Remember Princess took some time off after the Oaks as well. Princess ran exactly one more race for the year than Beholder, and ran exactly one more race than Beholder between the Oaks and the Distaff. Yes it's a difference but it's not so much of a difference that you take the award away from Beholder. And also remember Princess stayed home when other contenders (in fact ALL other Oaks runners if I am not mistaken) ran in March prep races. Are we going to discount her Oaks victory because of that? · 81 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · EP Taylor, on this point I couldn't agree more. For a person like myself who handicaps primarily from a pace stand point the race run by Mucho Macho Man was easily the best of the day, possibly any day this year anywhere. Others have their speed ratings which were 108 from Brisnet and 112 from Beyer. I had MMM at 117. Naturally this is JMO, but that was for myself the best race of the year on dirt. Considering he ran on the pace with a meltdown at the end allowing WTC and DOW to contest is was just fantastic. This is purely from the perspective of a fan, even though I did wager on him and Fort Larned, I can and do wager totally without prejudice. · 156 days ago ·

Groupie Doll was absolutely devastating last year when capturing the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, drawing away to win by 4 ½ lengths for her 5th consecutive win. This year the story was different, but the result was the same. • yargs · Flawed logic here on the chart that supposedly shows a bias. Absolutely none of those 5 horses were legitimate contenders in that race. Teddy's promise was 50-1 last year, Golden mystery 15-1, GGGal 8-1 with dubai majesty sitting a nice stalking spot behind the 2 speed horses....the problem isn't the distance, it's the class and inability of less quality animals trying to steal a race that is usually loaded with speed. · 176 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · Good Mrning Floridaf, I know how much you love the Doll. In watching the replay, you may have more insight into this than i do.Do not know if Maragh(the Mirage of a top jock) was riding to instructions or not.Whos' ever call it was,it was the wrong decision. From the second the gate opened, she was put into a full out drive.I remember her as a someone who likes to settle and make that powerful run.Similar to what Johnny V. did with the winner.Looks like they put their eggs in one basket and tried to win this rce at all costs.I thought she was one of the easiest potential winners at the Cup.If i now have to handicap the laurels of the passenger and the decision making of the trainer. She may not look as good as she once did. Terrible race strategy. · 192 days ago ·
