2013 Caufield Guineas & 2014 UAE 2000 Guineas winner, Long John, will make his much anticipated European turf debut on Saturday in the G2 Summer Mile Stakes at Royal-Ascot for trainer Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.
  • jonquil · I missed yesterday's racing due to a migraine - hope it goes away soon. Missed some big races, and I'm interested to see how Long John does in this race! What timing. :( · 33 minutes ago
This past few months his problem was very telling as he just wasn't himself. Time catches up to everyone. While he's young as far a life span, being a jockey has to be a most strenuous occupation and one needs all their abilities. Look at Rosario when he recently came back not fully healed and the difference now. At Belmont in the 9th race I believe, if not for his strength and being 100% his horse would have gone down coming out of the gate as she crossed her right leg over her left one step out. He straightened her up, calmed her down, and made a good run to get third. Look at what beat me: 17/1 and an 11/1. I had the #9 boxed with the #8 as I liked her and am partial to Prado, as well as a win bet. Even then Prado won by a head bob at the wire. 8 Miss Frost E. Prado $36.00 $15.40 $7.20 2 Bartiromo C. Velasquez $10.00 $5.90
This youngster has a very nice pedigree! Switches to dirt for his Stakes debut at Belmont on Sunday.
Upgrades are fine as long it as helps. "If it ain't broke don't fix it," but you did anyway. 1/9 you lose 50% of your members within three weeks, and when the realization of your blunder hits it will be to late as no one who left will be back. To see years of comments either wiped out or hidden beyond recall is a bit much. It was nice chatting, arguing, fighting, handicapping, and more. That is now a thing of the past for myself because I'm not going to waste time trying to figure this cluster Fxxx out. Goodbye to all of you, and it was nice to meet you all even as typing buddies. I'll be at Homeless Handicappers on Facebook. Simple, informative and the learning curve is Zero%. To the powers that be at HRN, I hereby renounce my membership and would like all of my comments deleted if that is possible. Thank you and goodbye.
  • Mary Z. · Sad. I think they fixed it, icy. · 2 hours ago
  • UnionRagsRules · They did fix it. You can see all the old comments if you scroll down a little more. What they do need is this stuff on a news feed on the home page. Not just the regular "comment and like" that we always get. I really like this system but it needs some fixing up... · 1 hour ago
This is an interesting development. I wonder if the Arc will still be a target for them?

  • jonquil · I don't find this surprising. They'd been saying they'd do this for some time, and this is likely the path of least resistance for them. I've also thought for some time now that they won't race Australia outside of the UK/Ireland - as I see it he's their major derby horse, and he won his derbies. Now the goal is to get him through the year with hopefully few to no more defeats, no injuries, and chances are they'll retire him after this year. There's several reasons I think this, but Australia would be an impressive addition to the sire list and since his father, Galileo, is no longer a shuttle stallion, Australia could take his place as a shuttle stallion and would probably do well (Cape Blanco is at Coolmore America, while Rip Van Winkle joined his sire on the Coolmore Ireland roster - Imperial Monarch, Mahler, and Sans Frontieres are relegated to the Coolmore National Hunt division, there currently is no Galileo-line sire standing at Coolmore Australia). He has the potential to make them more money that way now, so as I see it that could be what they'll do to try to offset all the growing competition from New Approach, Dawn Approach, Frankel, and other Galileo line sires as soon as possible with an eye to the future for Coolmore Stud. .... And no one will even whisper a word about Australia's older full sister, heh. · 5 hours ago
  • ILuvTurfRacing · I'm still bummed they decided to bypass the King George with Australia myself. I think he looks like 12f is his best trip. I think he's more likely to get turned over in the Juddmonte International at York over 10-1/2f or the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown over 10f than he would be in the King George. @zatt, as for the Australia vs. Sea The Moon showdown, Sea The Moon is clearly an up and comer but hasn't raced outside of Germany yet. The field he beat in the German Derby was by far the toughest he's faced yet and frankly speaking, I didn't see anything in that field to include Sea The Moon capable of beating Australia or Epsom Oaks winner Taghrooda for that matter, IMO. · 4 hours ago
If Shared Belief beats Cal Chrome in the Breeders Cup Classic would he be a clinch for best 3yr old? HOY?
  • slewcrew7778 · Don't think anyone is expecting Chrome's A game in the Classic against the best horses in the nation, not off of one race in almost five months. I would think his resume is a done deal for this year. But if Shared Belief was to dominate in two powerhouse performances against the best older horses in the Pacific and BC Classic remaining undefeated, who knows! Still, his popularity and accomplishments may already have sewn up 3yo honors for Chrome. Really looking forward to their 4yo season. No doubt all questions will be answered then! · 5 hours ago
I'll definitely post more pictures of DM and let you all know when his brother is set to debut, thanks for the kind welcome back, its been a while! What have I missed?
Here's Rachel's filly.

Is there any new about his return ?
He's getting a new knee (knee replacement surgery) and it will require 6 months off. If that doesn't work--he'll go back to TV.
  • Goblin · I'll try a link with the new system. He says he is taking a break for surgery, and does not plan to retire. http://www.drf.com/news/stevens-suspend-riding-get-knee-replacement · 9 hours ago
  • Sullivan · Not a bad run for him. After taking the Preakness, BC Classic, and BC Distaff, with all his major horses shelved, this decision fits nicely. · 7 hours ago
Jay. Go on this thread and click on the second picture I put up showing Peanuts and Exterminator in 1941
He RETIRED the first time based upon this problem and was collecting on his disability insurance. THAT required significant medical authentication to qualify, so this new "flare" is hardly surprising. I have followed many joint replacement patents and the outcome, functionally, is tough to predict.
Sat. will tell us what we got!!!
yes she won her maiden overcoming alot...
Knees were almost gone when he left. I doubt that they can be much better TODAY. We get ONE set of articular cartilage that has to last us a lifetime but MOST of us outlive that warranty, like this fellow did
Ok, I cannot comment on any running thread. No option too. I had to start this thread to say anything. What is this madness? Deja Vu all over again. Long troublesome day, to come home to this >:(
So he's making an announcement on HRTV... if you have it, please tune in... I don't, and would like to know what he's saying. Thanks
I posted two pictures ( one was upside down and I couldn't remove it) the other was correct of both a Exterminator and Peanuts at Pimlico in 1941 leading the post parade.
Does anyone know if shared belief and cali chrome will meet up in the pacific classic?
  • Paladin · Chrome isn't going to the Pacific Classic. Expected to come back in September . · 12 hours ago
  • slewcrew7778 · Goal for both is the BCC. Shared Belief in the Pacific Classic and likely the Los Al mile on Sept 20th or the Awesome Again on the 27th for Chrome. · 10 hours ago
