  • footlick · Mary Z.- obviously Summer Guest could. And in the Jockey Gold Cup, Shuvee could. And a little later, obviously, Lady's Secret. All ran against stronger males. You can put her in whatever historical perspective you want. The topic is closed for me. No more comments other than Euros from now on. And painting is not weary-making. It is actually energizing. • footlick · bellesforever1- the racing secretary is supposed to weigh the horses to finish together. I think he gave them the correct weight spread. If they want to complain that they should have been weighted so they would win, then that is different. But the racing secretary did his job. He is not the one who did not do his job. They were mad that she didn't win. Period. That is why I don;t like their constant whining about it. . · 50 days ago ·

Absinthe Minded and Tiz Miz Sue who had run one-two in the recent Pippin Stakes, were sent off as the 3-2, and 7-5 clear choices in the five-horse field. • Medlocke · I think it's great that people care about animals, and what happens to them. But these Peta people are lunatick fringe. Almost borderline terroist in the way they go about accomplishing what they're doing. Hey Peta, wanna see a thoroughbred really break down? Throw he or she in pen, or lock them away in a stall, and tell them they can't do what they were born and bread to do, which is RUN!!! Breaking a horses will to live is far more cruel than one breaking their leg, doing what every fiber of their being is telling them to do. IMO. · 753 days ago ·

  • Lmaris · Medlocke you're making it up out of whole cloth. You have no idea how much further back Zenyatta would have been with reasonable and not glacial fractions. You have no idea whether she'd been able to catch a faster pace. Zenyatta went to the lead early BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PACE. There wasn't much quality in the race either. Let's remember Zenyatta didn't run until late May 2009, and by mid-April of her 4 year old year, Zenyatta had run a grand total of 4 races, only 1 grade one. I doubt we'll see her out of California again. · 779 days ago ·

  • rossington · Heaven help us, is it possible that she may skip across the conventional dirt even faster than she does across a synthetic track? If she does, there's going to be a lot of disappointment for other thoroughbred's this season, that race against Zenyatta. Granted, the competition that was supposed to be there wasn't, but if you'll pardon the pun, to "Be Fair", Zenyatta never broke out of any faster of a clip than an exercise canter for the whole race. She was under a hand ride the whole way, and found herself at the lead so fast, she almost looked confused as to what to do. IMO, if Rachel Alexandra had been at the Apple Blossom today, the fractions would certainly have been faster, but the outcome of the race wouldn't have changed one iota. If Mike Smith, who never ask for anything the whole race, would've had to ask for Rachel today, Rachel would've found more there than what she's capable of handling. IMO. · 781 days ago ·
