  • DeadHeat · I do not think this field is weak at all. You have the Travers runner up and third place finisher and the Belmont winner, just off the top of my head. Plus the surface can be a little bit quirky at times. If THAS is the type of horse that can't go eye to eye with top horses he will run third to horses that may not be nearly as talented. From what i have seen this year he won't go by a horse if they fight back and they are abreast eachother. · 252 days ago ·

  • TerriZ · Quality Road has handled the 4 month layoff well. Similar comments were made about Big Brown last year in his run for the Triple Crown. As both horses have similar hoof problems, long layoffs are a necessity. QR, according to his former trainer, always did what he asked him to do and he only had to tell him once. After all the injuries of wonderful 3 year olds this year, QR is the only one left who is capable of defeating Rachael Alexandra. He certainly did that with Dunkirk who left the Florida Derby a defeated horse. It should be an interesting Travers and I hope that all the horses are well after that race. · 1026 days ago ·

  • mshutty · Quality Road still needs to be tested in my opinion. Granted, not much left in the three year old division to provide that test. The Amsterdam was impressive for sure, however, the jump to 10 furlongs will be interesting. As for his best race, the Florida Derby, let's keep in mind that he was lone speed in a short field on a track that was very biased to early speed that day. He'll find very different conditions come Travers Day. · 1025 days ago ·

  • TerriZ · I witnessed Quality Road beat Dunkirk and set a track record at the Florida Derby. He bested Barbaro and Big Brown for the record at Gulfstream Park. Dunkirk had the lead and QR took it away from him; Dunkirk left a defeated horse. It was frustrating that QR's previous trainer didn't know how to manage a horse with bad feet. Whatever can be said about Dutrow, he certainly knew how to get the best from Big Brown by his selection of shoes and by letting him rest. I am sure that Pletcher will be a improvement. Quality Road is a talented, big, intelligent, and even-tempered thoroughbred; he reminds me of Big Brown. And I was lucky enough to see both of them in the FLorida Derby. · 1026 days ago ·

  • GBeret · Really looking forward to Quality Road's return. I hope his quarter-cracks don't hinder him any, and he comes back looking like the colt we all saw in the Florida Derby. I really hated that both he and I Want Revenge had to scratch from the Ky. Derby, because if they had gotten to run in that race healthy, there's a couple of horses, namely a certain gelding and a certain filly I doubt we'd be hearing so much about these days. · 1043 days ago ·
