  • CauseForConcern · Probably one fact that's most impressing, is that THAS was one of the early Derby favorites, but after the Florida Derby, Mott had to put him on the shelf. He was patient in bringing him back, and, if Mott ever believed in him, then the horse could be close to being back on course. · 261 days ago ·

Yesterday, I wrote about my pick for the Swaps Stakes, Called to Serve, who has completely turned around his career since being gelded. The major equipment change was plenty enough for me to toss his early races and only look at his last two. Unfortunately, I am not always so fast to come around and...Read More

  • icyhotboo · @yukichan, last year I used to have access to a lot of free sites I used for boxing, soccer, and other sports. My PC crashed and my favorites along with it. I'll see if any of my friendshave those addresses as you need more than one most times because if you get to many using it will freeze. can't promise anything but even though I retired from poker playing I still used to like to kill time on line playing small stakes until OUR government decided we weren't mature enough to decide for orselves. Oh well gotta take what comes. · 385 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · Yes ma'am, that is exactly right annmatt. I had the pleasure of seeing MMM in person (horse) at Gulfstream back in March, and he is definitely one huge, good-looking colt. Considering that he is young for his age group, I would love to see him race again next year if he continues to remain sound and healthy. · 410 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · I agree about the dirt statement Stevebiscuit, but you never know until they run in a circle. Personally I've always been a fan of First Dude and felt he had this win coming, so i'm not upset by the finish in the least. All three performed like champs. · 682 days ago ·

  • 12 Clip · Good article Laura. The transformation of First Dude from a front-runner to a closer has been quite a transformation for the son of Stephen Got Even. His new style is so much better suited for his body-type. The Dude is a big colt that hits the ground hard. The way he closed in the Gold Cup reminded me of how Curlin use to grind them down. A winner of three in-a-row, it now seems like The Dude has no problem taking pictures in the winners circle. I think his style is perfect for Churchill Downs and the classic distance. And remember he was in the race last year as a three-year-old against one of the best fields ever assembled. This year I can visualize him getting a similar trip to the one Blame got in the Classic. There's still alot of racing til then, and Baffert needs to figure out what his next race will be. Although the Pacific Classic looks like the most likely spot. I'm not so sure if First Dude will be able to grip and dig as well on Del Mar's poly-track. He is 3 for 3 in the money lifetime on synthetic tracks, so with him I think the surface probably doesn't matter, but nonetheless it is Del Mar · 682 days ago ·

What was that all about? Slow pace in the Alysheba (the 24.86 was into the wind, but the 48.95 to the half was half into headwind, half tail or cross), but pace-setting Friesan Fire was nowhere at the finish, and most of the pressing crew had nothing late, either.
