I read a while back that you could walk into Windfield's Stallion barn, and read the list of dignitaries who have purchased Northern Dancer offspring was astonishing at that time. I watched the wins of Inglorious and Check Your Soul, and the trainer of Inglorious seemed hesitant and very non-committal after witnessing Check Your Soul win his race.
