What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Juddmonte International (G1)...

After Frankel rolled by Cirrus Des Aigles in the grade one Champion Stakes, extending his record to an unbeaten 14 for 14, there was only one thought in my mind… I had just witnessed the greatest horse to ever race of all time.Read More

  • MarcelloMarocco · So I guess Sir henry's Cancer and his inability to travel is why they kept Frankel in england and not headed for France. give Sir Henry a break. Champions Stakes is just fine. Where are all the top 10f horses over there dodging him like at York?. The Champions will be a sham of a field because regardless of where Frankel runs, the others will run to the other race. He goes to the ARC the others will run The Champions, and Japan Cup, if he goes to the Champions....everyone else runs for the ARC. · 237 days ago ·

  • footlick · icy-you can say and believe whatever you want. They also have the right to do what they want with their horse. As far as stretching Frankel out, I have stated the reason it took so long, as Sir Henry has said it many times and has been confirmed by Frankel's jockey. Cecil did not want to stretch Frankel out until he learned to relax behind horses. He has not done that until this year. I think the constant retirement of the 3 yr old crop this year would be far more worrying · 273 days ago ·

FRANKEL steps into the unknown on Wednesday when he tackles 1m2f for the first time in the Juddmonte International. Read More
Two days ago, Racing Post.com reported that Cirrus Des Aigles WILL NOT take on Frankel in the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York on August 22nd. The race to be Frankel's first go at 10f. The connections of Cirrus Des Aigles said the infection he developed awhile back on one of his ankles still hasn't healed yet to the point they feel he's ready for the Juddmonte International. Cirrus Des Aigles hasn't raced since finishing 2nd to the filly Golden Lilac in the G1 Prix D'Ispahan back in May. The injury to Cirrus Des Aigles had already previously forced him to miss possible dates in both the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud and the G1 King George. Then yesterday, AtTheRaces.com reported that trainer John Gosden has said that Nathaniel will also likely be an absentee for the Juddmonte International, too. Saying that his connections are leaning more toward sending him to Leopardstown in early September for the G1 Irish Champion Stakes. I think there was a lot of excitement about the possibility of rematch between Frankel and Nathaniel given that Frankel had beaten Nathaniel only a 1/2 length in what was the very first race of both's career back in 2010. So assuming that Cirrus Des Aigles and Nathaniel are both out of the JIS, it looks like Coolmore would possibly have the strongest hand to left to play against Juddmonte Farms and Frankel. Since they still have both St Nicholas Abbey, Imperial Monarch, and Daddy Long Legs all still entered in the JIS as of now.
