Older Comments about the 2010 Goodwood Cup (G2)...

The Goodwood meet was marred by injury again today. After yesterday's fatal breakdown of the 3yr.old colt, Film Score, in the Gordon Stakes. Today, Ballydoyle's Age of Aquarius broke down as well in the Goodwood Cup. First reports are that Age of Aquarius will likely survive his injuries. But the 4yr.old son of Galileo will likely never race again. Age of Aquarius had posted three 2nd place finishes in a row. To Harbinger in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester. To Profound Beauty in the Saval Beg Stakes at Leopardstown. And most recently, a brilliant run in for 2nd in the 2-1/2 mile Ascot Gold Cup. Age of Aquarius was leading the race in the Goodwood Cup and seemed to be traveling nicely in the race until disaster struck, and Johnny Murtagh had to immediately pull his colt up. One of the race favorites, Kite Wood, was a non-runner in the race.
This race is actually the Goodwood Cup. But the computer wouldn't let me list it as Cup, so I had to list it as the Goodwood Stakes.
