Noble Mission looking very fit for his 2nd place finish in the G3 John Porter Stakes at Newbury 2 weeks ago blast Telescope by 9 lengths to win the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown with a further 9 lengths to Contributer in 3rd and Sky Hunter a neck behind Contributer in 4th. Very impressive performance by Frankel's little brother today!!

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Euro Trash, Noble Mission looked awfully good today. Took the Gordon Richards field from gate to wire and extended away from Telescope easily inside the final furlong. · 494 days ago

A small 6-runner field assembled for this year's renewal of the G3 Gordon Richards Stakes, but there's some talent for sure among the 6 entries. Sir Michael Stoute went on record today with the racing media as saying he thinks it's very possible Telescope will need this first outing, but Telescope bolted up last season in his 2013 seasonal debut winning a conditions stakes at Leicester by 24 lengths off a 10 month layoff. Sky Hunter makes his first start for Godolphin in the UK in the Gordon Richards. He won 4 of 5 starts in France last season for trainer Andre Fabre. His only defeat was a 3rd behind Intello in the G1 Prix Du Jockey Club. This horse clearly has a lot of ability, but my knock on him now will be the same it's always been for talented horses transferring from Andre Fabre to Saeed Bin Suroor for Godolphin, and that's more often than not those horse regress badly for leaving Fabre, not progress. Several good horses over the years that were letit group level performers for Fabre in France failed abysmally under Suroor in the UK, I.E., Cavalryman, Cutlass Bay, and most recently Saint Baudolino & Masterstroke. Noble Mission could be the horse to watch out for in this race coming off a very narrow loss by a neck to Cubanita in the G3 John Porter Stakes at Newbury 2 weeks ago on his 2014 seasonal debut. It stands to reason he should strip much fitter this time around at Sandown for the run at Newbury, IMO.
