Older Comments about the 2013 York Stakes (G2)...

My picks: 1st-Mukhadram 2nd-Grandeur 3rd-The Apache 4th-King George River. Interesting to note that Shadwell's retained stable jockey in the UK, Paul Hanagan, passed on riding Ektihaam in the King George at Ascot to ride Mukhadram in this race at York.
A small but talented field goes to post for the G2 Sky Bet York Stakes on Saturday. Mukhadram, who has back to back outstanding placed finishes behind Al Kazeem in the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes & G1 Coral Eclipse Stakes figures to be the favorite. An interesting side note, jockey Paul Hanagan passed on riding Ektihaam in the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday to ride Mukhadram in this race at York. Other runners include The Apache, making his first start for Mike De Kock since winning the G2 Al Rashidiya and finishing 2nd in both the G1 Jebel-Hatta & G1 Dubai Duty Free to Sajjhaa in Dubai over the winter. 2-time G1 Northern Dancer Stakes winner Wigmore Hall, Grandeur who won dual G2 and is G1 placed in America, last year's winner Sri Putra, and the highly progressive 3yo King George River, last seen finishing 2nd to Intello in the listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket. Should be a very interesting race!!
