The ground at Longchamp is pretty soft right now from where rain hit Paris this week, but I saw where Al Kazeem's trainer, Roger Charlton, was saying they're expecting the ground to dry out to good to soft, soft in places by post time for the Arc. Just passing along some pertinant information to any of my fellow handicappers out planning on betting on the Arc this Sunday. Good luck to everyone!! My picks are: 1st-Treve 2nd-Orfevre 3rd-Novellist 4th-Leading Light, and box the super-fecta.

  • EP Taylor · Euro- We were talking about Intello earlier, do you think his connections entered the Arc, knowing that Wise Dan's form is too solid to ship and run the mile? Watching his replay's he is very sharp at a mile. · 447 days ago

This year's Arc really does look like a strong, vintage renewal. IMO, it's the best field that's lined up for the Arc since the 2009 renewal, and while Sea The Stars was a pretty clear cut favorite that year that field was still chalked full of G1 and multiple G1 winners. The likes of Youmzain, Conduit, Dar Re Mi, Stacelita, Fame and Glory, Vision D'Etat, and even Cavalryman in those days under Andre Fabre was a G1 winner and a legit G1 horse. This year's field is also chalked full of G1 and multiple G1 winners. I make a half-dozen or more horses in this field capable of winning the race if at their very best and if everything goes right for them. Orfevre, Treve, The Fugue, Leading Light, Kizuna, Ruler of the World, Novellist, Al Kazeem, and if the step up in trip to 12f doesn't become an issue, Intello, all more than capable of winning the Arc on pure ability if things go their way. Should be a great renewal to be thoroughly savored!!

Today Leading Light, Treve, and Meandre were supplemented into the Arc. Camelot, Kingsbarns, Manndawi, Yellow and Green, were withdrawn, leaving a final field of 19 - http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/treve-and-leading-light-supplemented-for-arc/1540482/#newsArchiveTabs=last7DaysNews

  • Euro Trash · It was such a slim chance that Camelot would get the ground he wants. · 449 days ago
  • EP Taylor · Don't be shocked at all to see either Kingsbarm or Camelot at woodbine for the International. Last year AOB sent Imperial Monarch, the year before he sent Treasure Beach, the year prior Joshua Tree. So he usually sends one of his horses. Please bring Camelot! · 449 days ago
Treve, Leading Light, and Meandre have all been supplemented at a cost of 100,000 euros into Sunday's G1 Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe field at Longchamp. Pretty costly fee to say the least.
Nice montage of the major Arc preps from this past Saturday at Longchamp, some great paddock footage of the winners and their connections - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc0mYYzXYpw
Promo for the 2013 Arc. It is in French, but the message is pretty clear - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNl9ORbCSoI&feature=youtu.be
