What the Nation is saying about the 2013 Manhattan Handicap (G1)...

Catching a recent world record holder at a price is not something easily done, but with Twilight Eclipse lining up for the Grade 1 Man O’ War on Saturday, that’s exactly what I’ll be looking to do. Listed as the 9-2 third choice on the morning line, I look for the four-year-old gelded son of Purim t...Read More

  • Floridaf · Point of Entry and Little Mike were both shafted at the Eclipse Awards. I like Wise Dan as much as the next person, but I certainly did not agree with him doing a clean sweep of the Older Male awards. · 310 days ago ·

  • Buckpasser · As POE is one of my favorite horses, I couldn't agree more Floridaf. Also liked Little Mike- a gutsy little guy. · 310 days ago ·

Five weeks ago fans were disappointed when the much anticipated showdown between Wise Dan and Point of Entry did not take place, but fans can look forward to another juicy match-up, this time between Point of Entry and Twilight Eclipse, on the Belmont Stakes undercard.Read More
If any of the opposition has it in mind to upset the imposing Point of Entry on Saturday in the 141st running of the Grade 1, $500,000 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap, they had better be ready to run a career-best race. Read More
  • amino998 · The author left out part of Shug’s quote…. after “It was a mile and an eighth on soft turf there, so I have no problems about what I did,” McGaughey said.>> He continued with “A mile and a quarter at Belmont isn’t like a mile and an eighth at Churchill.” >> Shug left out the part about Wise Dan :) · 314 days ago ·

Will this race be televised? I can't wait to watch Optimizer stomp Point of Entry and Twighlight eclipse.

  • Southern.Humor · The connections are doing an excelent job of running Optomizer into the ground. I'd be shocked to see him anywhere close to POE. · 315 days ago ·

  • Sullivan · Hmm... assimilationist takeover? Calumet Farm knows just what they're doing running Optimizer and if you notice he still runs well. They tried to go for the big dirt purses and couldn't get them so now they're on turf and doing damn well. Optimizer has never needed a big break and goes out every morning with his ears pricked. I think the connections are doing a FANTASTIC job of running Optimizer into a successful career. You preach about how you want old school this and old school that, but when it is handed to you on a silver platter you shun it. · 315 days ago ·
