  • geldedridgling · Did I just read Goldencents in the same sentence as Point Given and Hansel? Wow. I don't see the Mr. Prospector influence anywhere is Goldecents' pedigree. Expect him to finish near last again. One horse you didn't mention is Red Bullet. Govenor Charlie may be this year's Red Bullet. Departing looked good against grade 3 competition so it's hard to judge him. · 43 days ago ·

It's quite conceivable that Eagles band members, Glenn Frey and Don Henley, could have easily written about the Kentucky Derby as opposed to relationships, when the songwriting duo penned the line "Who can go the distance, we'll find out," in their song titled, "The Long Run." The question is posed ...Read More

  • ismalli · You are correct on how, at a minimum, Dosage lets us know who has the DNA for Derby-Contention; yet, you underplay Post Position, especially with regard to who's inside your horse. Q:Why? · 51 days ago ·

  • Trackside · Ismali--I feel post position in the Derby is overrated...it is a long run to the first turn, and there is planty of time for riders to establish position. However, Post position at times, can be detrimental to some types of running styles, as a handicappers we have to evaluate if a certain post may or may not affect a horse. · 51 days ago ·

Revolutionary was not the most impressive winner yesterday; Animal Kingdom and Dreaming of Julia saw to that. • kedez2012 · I really like him, and that surprises me. I had actually favored Orb for a while, but I found myself talking about Revolutionary to a friend yesterday, and I realized just how high I am on him. I like that he does tend to get himself into trouble, but he also knows how to get out of it. Love those Lane's End breeds. · 78 days ago ·

  • patrick.l.mccaslin · There is a lot of people that like departing in the LA Derby. I know he is undefeated and obviously loves the Fairgrounds race track. He did race 1-1/16 in a 7 horse field at Fairgrounds and won easily. But against what competition. And fractions usally tell all. In the 1-1/16 mile race the fractions were as follows. 1/4 was 24.90 half was 49.76 115.14 140.32 finish was 144.34. The finish time was ok but the rest was slow to say the least. Look at the others at 1- 1/16 and these aren't close. I know he didn't set the pace and was just off as he always is. But if there is anything that is going to affect Departing it will be the pace of the race. If he can handle a actual fast pace then he stands a chance of winning. But he hasn't seen one yet. Good luck to all on Saturdays Races! · 82 days ago ·

I agree with cocoa on Departing. Not so sure about Mylute. Departing won drawing off and looked great doing so. But the only concerns for him are the fact that the fractions in his last race were very slow 24.1 48.36 1:13:34 1:25:65 finish at 1:37:94 . He sat 4th most of the race and realed them in around the last turn. I want to see how he handles a faster pace. That and the fact he's jumping from 1 mile to 1-1/8. We will know on sat!
