From every analysis of this race, most experts are completely ignoring this race as a Derby Prep.
In my eyes people are downplaying this race but they shouldn't because this race has produced Kentucky Derby winners before.
i understand that everyone wants to get into the kentucky derby.to some it is about the event.saying you had a horse run in the derby.be treated like royalty for a day.but seriously,at what expense.fact charismatic came back so soon and won the derby might shoot holes in my staement.for a horse to come back and race within 2 weeks, let alone 1 week if you count the derby trial.how fit can they be even in a normal distance race.but this is 1 1/4.if they somehow are tired or not in shape to negotiate the grueling distance.they can hurt the chances of other horses.even worse.and god forbid go down.i think next year they should limit the point races and stop them at 3 weeks prior to the derby.again who am i to burst someones bubble of having a derby entrant.but sometimes you do what is right.
Question about this race, Do you think any of the horses that has 2 - 20 Derby Points will be put in this race to get a spot in the Derby? In my opinion Always in a Tiz, Taken By The Storm, Departing, Code West and Mr. Palmer will be potential ones that do it
