ILuvTurfRacing · Mendip at 10-1 leaps off the page as a great each way bet to me. He doesn't stay 10f very well, but from a mile to 9-1/2f he's only been beaten 2 times in his career at Meydan, and this starts his 4th Carnival. His losses were 3rd in the 2010 UAE Derby behind Musir at 9-1/2f and 4th in Al Maktoum Challenge Rd.1 in 2012, but he came back and won this race next time out. He's won the AMC Rd. 2 & Al Bastikiya at 9-1/2f, plus the AMC Rd.1 & Burj Nahaar at a mile in 2011. He loves the surface and has proven very, very good over the 9-1/2f trip. · 104 days ago ·

ILuvTurfRacing · @icyhotboo, Alpha finished stone motherless last of 12, but Mendip finished 5th. Much like his first run at last year's Carnival when he finished 4th in the AMC Rd.1 needing the run, but then won the AMC Rd. 2 in his second start. Mark my words, Mendip will come on like gangbusters in his next race from this 5th place finish, but he doesn't stay 10f very well at all. If they're smart, they'll drop Mendip back in trip to a mile and run him in the Burj Nahaar, then point him toward the Godolphin Mile on world cup night. I think Mendip would take a world of beating in that race, IMO. · 103 days ago ·

Saint Baudolino was the favorite internationally at 2-1. Hunter's Light was the second choice internationally at 3-1. · 103 days ago ·

northport · I don't know if you mean terror in a good or bad way, because a G2 win and dead heat in a G1 don't really qualify him as anything exceptional. Beside the Travers and Jim Dandy, he hasn't been the most outstanding · 103 days ago ·

icyhotboo · Alpha is a nice little horse. Racing him in grade 2 stakes would put him at the top IMO. He may improve as he gets older, really he's still a 3yo and not close t maturity for a minimum of 6 months. They could get 25k breeding just on his looks. · 103 days ago ·
