Older Comments about the 2012 Sussex Stakes (G1)...

Only 3 other horses stayed in the G1 Sussex Stakes field to take on Frankel on Wednesday, and 1 of them is his own pacemaker, Bullet Train. This year's Sussex Stakes will be little more than a glorified workout for Frankel, IMO. I know the Godolphin horse, Farhh, is a very lightly raced colt with a lot of upside. But I don't get why Saeed Bin Suroor is thinking dropping him back in trip to 8f to go against Frankel will be a positive for Farhh? He's obviously a very good horse in his own right over 10f. One that just had the misfortune of running into 2 top caliber horses in So You Think in the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes and Nathaniel in the G1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes. Sending him out to likely get run off of his feet over a mile against Frankel could easily destroy whatever confidence Farhh has going for him for those 2 top class, G1 efforts at 10f. JMO.

  • footlick · A 7 furlong match race was also proposed. BC's people said no even before the idea could be firmed up. They wanted nothing to do with Frankel. It is lunacy for Frankel to have to drop to 5 or 6 furlongs to run against her. That is what they were looking for, I'm sure. · 1033 days ago
  • footlick · another absurd discussion deciding how a horse should be campaigned, like Cecil doesn;t know what he is doing with a horse. · 1033 days ago
