  • Mike in SB · Opening day at Santa Anita has always been the start of the new racing year for me and this looks like a good card with a deep Malibu field and the best 3 year old filly My Miss Aurelia in the La Brea. But one thing Santa Anita has to do is get a safe and fair racing surface. Horses that came from off the pace were at a great disadvantage last year, I hope they have figured out a way to make it more fair to all horses , especially with the Breeders Cup there again in 2013. · 143 days ago ·

Smart Ellis is the Joe Btfsplk of Thoroughbred race horses. Bltfsplk is the Al Capp character in Li’l Abner who is the world’s biggest jinx. He walks around with a perpetually dark rain cloud a foot over his head. Once he appears on any scene, dreadfully bad luck befalls anyone in his vicinity. Read More
Big Bane Theory’s ninth-place finish in the Grade I Hollywood Derby was worse than it looked. Take it from Joe Talamo, who has ridden the 3-year-old son of grass champion Artie Schiller in each of his four starts, winning two. Read More
