I don't think I can ever remember a major G1 stakes race with a larger blanket finish than what this one had at Longchamp on Sunday. This is what the official finishing margin's are listed as between the first 10 horses that crossed the wire in the G1 French 2000 Guineas: 1st-Lucayan. Short neck to 2nd-Veneto. Short neck to 3rd-Furner's Green. Nose to 4th-Amaron. Short neck to 5th-Gregorian. Short neck to 6th-Dabirsim. 3/4 of a length to 7th-Coupe De Ville. 3/4 of a length to 8th-Beauvoir. Neck to 9th-Dragon Pulse. Short neck to 10th-Nutello. Then you finally get some separation between the 10th place finisher and Telwaar finishing 6 lengths back in 11th. Can anyone else ever remember that large of a blanket finish in a big race like this? On personal note, it's absolutely tragic about Coolmore's Furner's Green dying right after he crossed the wire in 3rd in this race. He really was becoming one of Aidan O'Brien's fastest improving 3yr.old's in his barn this season, IMO.
