  • icyhotboo · dani.pugh, I love RTG and WD but as you pointed out it's his tactical speed that will give FL the edge. Of course having that edge is not a guarantee of anything but I'm really excited over what I perceive as an extradinary group of older horses that hasn't been seen for a while from my perspective anyway. · 278 days ago ·

  • dani.pugh · icy, I agree that this group is a very deep and talented one. I don't remember a time where the speed figures for an entire group of older males have been so consistently high. Even with some defections, I strongly believe the classic will be not only highly competitive an interesting race to handicap, but also a deep field full of talent. I cannot wait for the fall races to unfold so that we may see who will lead the division into what looks to be a very exciting race. · 276 days ago ·

  • jasen.mangrum · AmbitiousD, I'm not sure about Summer Front, but I know Silver Max is being pointed to the BC. I know it was 1 1/4, but he's not in the top 10 after that performance against straight 3 year old. Plus, if Obviously & Little Mike both show up for the BC mile, he'll be in for a long day. · 278 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · ILuvTurfRacing, I am personally of the opinion that the added distance of the BC Turf won't be a problem for Dullahan. Throw out his Belmont effort on account of his dislike for the dirt. From what I've seen, Dullahan appears to be one that relishes distance. Go back to his early races; he didn't break his maiden until the distance was extended to 8.5 furlongs, and he's run well going routes ever since (again, if you throw out the Belmont and the Haskell on account of his dislike for dirt). · 295 days ago ·

  • cocoa2 · deep closers do not win the BELMONT STAKES. It is a fact. Dullahan is a fine horse, not to be overrated (as he ran recent;y on a fast track) and not to be underrated (saying he cannot handle dirt). · 295 days ago ·

. Most champions are dirt runners, but they don’t have to be. With all of the major 3-YO dirt runners retired, I argue that this would be the year, if any, to buck the trend and make a non-dirt specialist champion. Now is the time, and with the proper credentials, I vote Dullahan for Champion 3-Year...Read More

  • icyhotboo · I didn't look at the race because I'm a terrible handicapper on synthetic and the horse I liked Dullahan was running against older horses, specifically GOD who I thought would run this kind of race. I knew D would run well but the difference between a good 3yo copared to a good older horse is big. Still it wouldn't have hurt me to play an ex box probably $12 with GOD top/ $8 wt D top / but I didn't to my regret. If only once I could have hindsight before the race.lol · 296 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · It wasn't even that big of an upset with Dullahan as the third betting choice. I imagine that his age and shipping in from across the country probably deterred some bettors from backing him, but that just made the victory all the more sweet for those who did. · 296 days ago ·

That 5-wide move on the turn was pretty impressive too. I wasn't going to bet him at 4-1 or 9-2, but luckily he went up to 5-1 in the last 2 minutes before post.
