What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Metropolitan Hcp. (Met Mile) (G1)...

In my opinion, there is one “utility player” currently in training today that stands head and shoulders above his peers. The only horse to win a graded stakes race at both six and nine furlongs in 2012 was Caixa Eletronica. Read More

  • illhaveanothertriplecrown · In my opinion they were the best two horses at that time. Most people consider the Kentucky Derby as a test of the best, and generally the 3 yr old dirt horse races are the most illustrious races. I dont think its that ignorant to say that at the time of the Preakness that those two were the best. You don't have to agree but you can't say those two horses were two of the best at that time. · 238 days ago ·

  • CauseForConcern · Probably one fact that's most impressing, is that THAS was one of the early Derby favorites, but after the Florida Derby, Mott had to put him on the shelf. He was patient in bringing him back, and, if Mott ever believed in him, then the horse could be close to being back on course. · 258 days ago ·

  • annmatt · I'm still over the moon about Shackleford's last two wins in which he had to work for the win and instead of coming up short, he has started to put some wins together. He's a special horse, and I'm pulling for him to get Older Male this year and retire to stud a true champion. He already is, to me anyway. · 353 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · I do have a lot of love for Shackleford, Mary Z., but it's hard not to fall in love with him once you meet him. He is a horse that demands both your attention and your admiration. I think you make a very good point about how those of us that have never witnessed a TC are the ones clamoring for one the most. It would be almost another 10 years after Affirmed's TC before I was born, so all I have seen have been the near misses. Icy, you do not have to agree with me all the time. You are not the only one that thinks I may be reaching a bit when I say Shack could be a good mentor for IHA. It's simply my opinion. Bode will be dangerous at a mile, and IHA stands a really good chance of winning the TC, with or without spending some time with Shack. · 357 days ago ·

  • Capper · I totally agree Matt. I think THAS is starting to hit his best stride & Mott is the most dangerous trainer in the game when pointing for a specific spot. CP could win, but his BC Mile win was a result of a perfect pace setup, as well as the track playing to outside closers. · 359 days ago ·
