What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Gulfstream Park Hcp (G2)...

With Kentucky Derby fever in full flight, fans are clamoring for Union Rags – Hansen II. I’m all for that; a real honest to goodness rivalry through the Triple Crown would be great for our sport, but a couple of performances this past week have me very excited for the potential of another match-up. ...Read More

  • AndyScoggin · It was quite a meeting at Gulfstream. Seven likely Derby starters ran well at Gulfstream: Hansen, Union Rags, Dullahan, Gemologist, Take Charge Indy, Trinniberg, and Went the Day Well. · 716 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · Horse of the Meet is now officially included! Matt, it was a great meet, and I was fortunate enough to see both the Swale and the Gulfstream Park Handicap. Later this week I will likely have a piece up on the Derby chances of the seven colts you named. · 716 days ago ·

The switch from Gulfstream's fast surface to Churchill Downs' deeper surface did not faze Mucho Macho Man one bit. The Macho Uno colt logged his first recorded work under the Twin Spires, and Kostas Hatzikoutelis and Dream Team Racing Stable could not have been happier with how their star worked.Read More

  • Floridaf · That's exactly the point I made to one of his critics, AmbitiousD. He should prove us both right in the Alysheba. · 738 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · Yes ma'am, that is exactly right annmatt. I had the pleasure of seeing MMM in person (horse) at Gulfstream back in March, and he is definitely one huge, good-looking colt. Considering that he is young for his age group, I would love to see him race again next year if he continues to remain sound and healthy. · 737 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · AnnaK, I don't think the Fairgrounds are any closer than Gulfstream, but the idea has merit. That very well may just have to be the next stop for me. · 762 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · A better explanation since Prospective was on the rail for the first half of the race is the better horses were running in the middle of the track where 89% of winners everywhere run on dry fast tracks. · 766 days ago ·

Trainer Kathy Ritvo set the $300,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2) on March 10 as the next start for multiple-stakes winner Mucho Macho Man. While Rick Dutrow continues to take Boys At Tosconova’s comeback one small step at the time, William Bradley decided to take a bolder approach to Groupie Doll’s 2012 debut.
