What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Dubai Duty Free (G1)...

Hello to all from Dubai. Normally, we are quick to put together post-race thoughts on the full gamut of activity from the 2012 Dubai World Cup, but given the emotionally charged nature of the day, both powerful and challenging, we thought it best to let our thoughts settle for some time. JAMES DOYLE punched the air in celebration as he crossed the line well clear of his rivals on Cityscape to post a first Group 1 of his career. The Roger Charlton-trained six-year-old came home in splendid isolation to gain a well-deserved first win at the highest level after a series of solid effort...Read More
  • ILuvTurfRacing · All I can say about Cityscape in this race is WOW!! He completely dominated a Dubai Duty Free field that I felt like was the deepest field on the entire world cup night card from top to bottom. Cityscape gave a very strong hint last season that he had developed into a legitimate G1 level horse when first finished right up Canford Cliffs and Goldikova's back side in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot. He then went on and won a couple of G3's, one in Ireland and one in France. He was then real unlucky to have gotten clipped right on the wire by Dick Turpin in the G1 Premio Vittorio Di Cappua in Italy, and after that, he ran a really strong 2nd behind Able One in the G1 Hong Kong Mile. But today, Cityscape announced he's for sure a G1 level horse by just mauling a field that not included many of Europe's best at this distance, but Hong Kong's best as well. · 60 days ago ·

There were few surprises in the draw. MARITIMER, Canada’s juvenile champion, did draw in to the main body of the UAE Derby field after Boby Di Job was not entered. Defending Dubai Golden Shaheen champion Rocket Man drew the rail in his attempt to become the first repeat winner of the race since Call...Read More
