Sorry to ask but im a little bit confused - 2 miles equals more than 3000m? Am I right or not? In case I am, pretty long distance..
  • Northport · The Gold Cup is run at 3200 metres which is just under 2 miles. It is a race for stayers, which is why it is long. Most races that end in 'Gold Cup' are long distances races (Ascot Gold Cup, Dubai Gold Cup, Hennessy Gold Cup), or started out at long distances (ie. Jockey Club Gold Cup) · 1649 days ago

This race ended up marring what was otherwise an outstanding night of racing from Meydan on Dubai World Cup night. Hard to believe that from this one race we lost Fox Hunt, who I felt like was the most rapidly improving stayer in all of Europe. Then during the rerun, both Grand Vent and Bronze Cannon, both talented horses in their right, both suffered broken legs and had to be put down. As a fan of thoroughbred racing for over 30 years, a situation like this sort of leaves you at a loss for words. Makes you wonder if it was more than just a coincidence that 3 different horses suffered broken legs which ended up being fatal to all to 3.
  • mickdaam · Yes not good news, but should the stewards have run the race again? In my book big mistake · 2000 days ago
  • cocoa2 · Such a long race and exhausted horses... I think we got away with one this time. · 2000 days ago
They shouldnt have re run this race. 2 horses broke down and many could barely finish.
Anyone know who is going to show the 2nd take?
Fox hunt went down, race called off. Just while Horse Racing is being kicked in the arse already for safety. And Meydan is safer than Saratoga!
