Super Screener Winning Criteria - Filly & Mare Sprint

  • Rule #2 - TCA Pays - The Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland has produced the past 3 winners and a couple of board-hitting longshots.
  • Rule #7 - Not NY - Fillies and mares coming out of New York-based sprint preps are overbet and often disappoint.
  • For all 10 rules for this race and all Breeders' Cup races, get your copy of the 2012 Breeders' Cup Super Screener.

What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1)...

My quest to find a few suitable stallions for 2012 Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner, Groupie Doll. Some choices are obvious, but at least one will certainly surprise you.Read More

Was 2012 a year of disappointment? Was it a year where the depth of divisions was so lacking that a Turf Miler would be named Horse of the Year, Turf Champion, and Champion Older Male? Or was 2012 a year with such an outstanding group of horses, that it took one so brilliant, so versatile, and so ta...Read More

  • dani.pugh · Just because a turf miler is named HOTY doesn't mean a weak older male division. If the times of the races were sub par and the numbers were way down, I could see it but that was far from the case. The numbers that the older males threw were higher than numbers we have seen in recent years. Times were just as good if not better for that group. Just because one did not establish themselves doesn't mean it was a bad bunch. That could just as well me the group all around was talent and full of depth. It wasn't like a longshot beat the favorite. The horses that won were already well respected. RTG had a very consistent year, as did Fort Larned, MMM, and Flat Out. The Whitney, FO, FL, and RTG went 123. Look at their records, you see they run consistently fast. They were evenly matched, but also one of the best groups of older males we have seen in a long time. Times and numbers say that. · 449 days ago ·

  • Mike in SB · Today no horse is asked to carry weight, the top weight will probably be 122 pounds or so. I wonder what they consider a fair weight. After seeing her at Santa Anita, I think she could beat most colts at even weight at 6-7 furlongs, maybe a mile. But I don't think she has a chance to be either Horse of the Year or Older Female even with a win. Wise Dan will be Horse of the Year and Royal Delta will be champion older filly. · 515 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · I don't know, Karen. I think HOTY is still up for grabs at this point with several candidates making a good case for why they should get the top honors. It just all depends on how the voters decide to choose. Remember Zenyatta? The year she won the Classic she didn't get HOTY, but the year she lost the Classic by a nose, she received top honors. These things don't always make sense. · 526 days ago ·
  • Capper · It was a great performance, especially when you factor in being stuck wide throughout her trip & from coming off the pace, which was tough to do over the weekend. · 526 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · If John Gosden so chooses to bring them both to America for the BC F&M Turf? He's got Izzi Top with a "win and your in" for winning the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland. She just finished 2nd in the G1 Prix De l'Opera at Longchamp on Arc day, Sunday. He also has star 3YO filly, The Fugue, with a "win and your in" slot for her win in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood earlier in the season, too. Both of those fillies could be huge players in the F&M Turf if Gosden brings them? It sound like The Fugue is pretty certain to be sent but I haven't heard yet one way or another if Izzi Top is going to be sent to Santa Anita or not? · 553 days ago ·
