What the Nation is saying about the 2012 Al Fahidi Fort (G2)...

The genius of Mike De Kock on display in Dubai, again!! How many times over the years have we seen Mike De Kock take cast off horses from Coolmore and other stables that were already decent horses, bring them to Dubai, and turn them into outstanding horses?? He's already done that again this year with Viscount Nelson and Mutahadee, IMO. I had a gut feeling that De Kock was going to have Viscount Nelson prime for the G2 Al Fahidi Fort, because he had said a couple of weeks ago that this race was the intended target for Viscount Nelson, and it would depend on how well he ran in this race as to whether or not he'd go forward, likely to the G1 Dubai Duty Free on world cup night. Glad to see Viscount Nelson finally get a stakes win above listed level. You could tell from how well he ran in the 2010 G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and the 2010 G1 Coral-Eclipse that the ability was there. Just a matter of dragging it out of him. Also thought Master of Hounds got a horrible ride from Christophe Soumillon in this race, which may have cost him 2nd place, if not the win? Soumillon got him trapped on the rail late, and tried taking MOH through a gap that never really existed. Causing him to check off of the heels of another horse late in the race, and he completely lost any momentum he had at that point. Amazing that MOH hung on to 3rd place. The ride eerily reminded me of that horrid ride he gave River Jetez in the G2 Cape Verdi a year ago. When Soumillon also tried taking her through a gap that never really existed, and cost her that race!! JMO
