What the Nation is saying about the 2011 Woodbine Oaks (RS)...

Queen's Plate and Oaks champion Inglorious failed to notch her first graded stakes win on Sunday in the $250,000 Selene Stakes over her home track -- a surface she had previously been unbeaten over.Read More
  • yukichan · I was rather shocked that Inglorious did not fire ... she was bumped around in the stretch, but it was rather minor and as your wrote, a true champ at the top of her game should have finished much closer, if not first. It makes me wonder if something is not amiss with her? · 245 days ago ·

Last Sunday's Wonder Where Stakes was won by a filly that performed well in the first two jewels of the Triple Tiara, yet she returned more than $11. Could Breeders' yield same type of horse? Read More
  • zatt · I have not handicapped this yet, Adam ... who is going to take to turf? · 298 days ago ·

  • Woodbine · I don't think there are a lot of questions with who will or won't handle turf. Most have been on and have handled it well in maiden or allowance wins. Obviously Pender Harbour has not. He's Kris s line on top and Northern Dancer on bottom. Even if he takes to turf, the distance or the regression may get better of him. Seawatch also a turf enigma. Woodman could go either way, no? · 297 days ago ·

The Plate Trial Stakes winner Check Your Soul was made the lukewarm 3-1 morning line favorite for Sunday’s $1 million Queen’s Plate. He could make it a historic day for trainer Roger Attfield. Read More
  • AndyScoggin · Check Your Soul sure looked amazing in the Plate Trial, as did Inglorious in the Oaks! What are your minimum odds to bet Check Your Soul? · 338 days ago ·

  • cugel the clever · Check Your Soul certainly had the most impressive prep race. He and Inglorous raced the same day, at the same distance, only one race apart. CYS won his race more impressively and in a faster time. But, I don't think the likely pace scenario will help either of them. The best speed in the race, Pender Harbour, is fresh and rapidly improving and if he can get away on the lead with moderate to slow fractions, he'll steal the race. · 338 days ago ·

Check Your Soul and Queen'splatekitten enter Sunday's Queen's Plate off impressive scores in their respective preps, the Plate Trial and the Marine. Over the past 20 years, does the winner of one have an edge over the winner of the other? Keep reading to find out. Read More
  • BrianZipse · Interesting information, Adam. In the end, I think it comes down to who is the better horse, and this year it looks like the Plate Trial winner is better than the Marine victor. Rooting for the filly, but Check Your Soul is the horse to beat. · 343 days ago ·

The Winterbook favorite for the Queen's Plate, Inglorious puts her undefeated Woodbine record on the line in the 1 1/8-mile Woodbine Oaks.Read More
  • zatt · I have been a big fan since Inglorious broke her maiden in a stakes race last fall, and I like her chances in the Woodbine Oaks tomorrow, but I must admit, it came up tough. Obviously Bear It's Time and Roxy Gap are strong fillies, but Marketing Mix looks especially intriguing to me. · 359 days ago ·
